IE expects lots of ULEZ zones across the UK soon, which councils will use to raise taxes for themselves and their pet projects, especially as High Streets continue to decline, thus culling the business rates revenue.
That means more taxation on movement, with the older petrol, diesel cars and vans, all likely to be the first targets, although IE predicts that hybrids will see tolls imposed too, within say 5 years.
How will these new electric cars work, if it takes 8 hours to charge them up? Ah, glad you asked, as Mercedes are thinking ahead on that score, in fact Merc reckon that some 400 rapid charging car parks will be available across Europe soon, (2020-22) and who can argue with their estimate, as governments rush to embrace electric cars, although they aren’t so keen on building power stations.
