Bought By Many has hired experienced veterinary nurse Sarah James as its first Veterinary Relationship & Technical Claims Manager. The pet insurance business was voted the UK’s most trusted pet insurance provider in the Moneywise Customer Service Awards earlier this year and has made continuous improvements to its policies to make insurance better for everyone.
James, who has six years experience as a veterinary nurse and previously held the position of Head Veterinary Nurse at Independent Vetcare, will be responsible for working closely with practices around the UK to ensure claims are straightforward and clear for both pet owners and vets. Her role will also involve evaluating technical claims using her extensive knowledge of the industry and treatments.
Playing a key role in further improving Bought By Many’s already streamlined online claims, James brings an unrivalled understanding of insurance claims from the vets’ side, helping Bought By Many support vets in providing the best level of care for its pet insurance customers.
Bought By Many’s Snap Claims process asks a handful of questions, including the contact details of the customer’s vet. Once it has that information it can get in touch with the vet to capture the details of the treatment and costs and quickly arrange a payout. Customers are kept up to date about the progress of the claim via text messages and emails.
Sarah James commented: “Having dealt with Bought By Many claims while working in practice, I’ve seen first-hand how their snap claims deliver the appropriate treatment in an efficient manner. I’m looking forward to working with both vets and customers to improve this even further to ensure our pet insurance policy is delivering the kind of treatment and reassurance pet owners and pets deserve.
Many insurers are still using out-dated claims procedures that make it difficult for vets to provide treatment, as well as delaying remuneration for pet owners who have to pay for complex and expensive treatments up front.
Changes in data protection laws mean that it’s getting tougher for vets to investigate claims and policies, and many insurers are slow to respond and have outdated claims processes. Bought By Many’s approach to improving its policies and genuine care for animal wellbeing was a big incentive to join, and I can’t wait to work with the team to help make pet insurance even better for vets and pet owners.”
Steven Mendel, CEO and Co-founder of Bought By Many commented: “A key part of developing our product is understanding what will help vets deliver better service, as well as improving our offering for customers. We’re pleased to bring in Sarah, whose wealth of hands-on experience will help the team strengthen their understanding of pet insurance from the practitioner’s point of view.”
