Copart Braced For Extra Vehicle Recovery Once Storm Dennis Hits UK

Leading salvage company Copart, which looks after vehicle recovery for 21 of the UK’s top 25 insurers, has instigated its emergency surge management plan in readiness for Storm Dennis this weekend.

Heavy rain, flooding and disruption is forecast for many areas, especially in the south west, south east, north west and South Wales, with up to 140mm of rain expected in some areas. It will hit as some areas are still recovering from Storm Ciara, which left thousands of  homes and cars under water.

In order to limit damage and maximise the potential for restoration and sale of flood-damaged cars, the quicker a vehicle is recovered from a flood the better.

Copart’s surge management team is on standby to assess the impact of Storm Dennis, and its dedicated response unit is ready to be deployed to wherever it’s most needed. They also have a team of centrally co-ordinated roamer recovery drivers who can be immediately deployed to the affected areas where they’re needed most.

Copart UK Managing Director Jane Pocock said: “With flooding incidents on the increase due to climate change and the growth in building in flood zones, the number of water-damaged vehicles is increasing.

“In its busiest winter periods we can be called on to handle more than 6000 flood-damaged vehicles.

“Once we’ve recovered them, our exclusive partnership with Polygon vehicle contamination services enables us to restore flood damaged vehicles to food hygiene level standards, so we can minimise the cost impact for our insurer partners.”
