Fitbit; One Small Step for Mankind, One Big Leap for Yulife

Yulife, the wellbeing life insurance company, has some big news. The employee wellbeing specialist has announced the launch of a new partnership with the activity tracker giant Fitbit. The new venture pairs Yulife’s activity-based app with Fitbit’s range of products, by offering a best in market discount across its entire product range of wearable technology devices.

All users of Yulife’s app will automatically receive exclusive access to this two-fold partnership. Firstly, a 25% discount on Fitbit’s entire product range, including their collection of fitness trackers and smart watches. Fitbit products can track sport, activity, sleep and weight; and use of any of these gadgets will feed directly into the second benefit of directly integrating with Yulife’s app, allowing members to get rewarded for their daily steps.

Yulife’s unique approach to life insurance helps cultivate healthier, happier and more productive teams within the workplace. Its app is designed to directly engage people on a daily basis and reward users for simple everyday activities, such as walking to work, walking meetings or doing a personal meditation session. By looking after their wellbeing, Yulife members earn yucoin, the currency of wellbeing, which they can redeem on a number of rewards partners.

The Yulife app converts all physical and mental activities into yucoin – i.e. walking, running or meditation – via the wearable tech. This marks Yulife’s second big-scale partnership with a wearable tech brand, following the announcement of its partnership with Garmin last year which gives Yulife app users an exclusive discount of up to 40% on weareables and smartwatches.

CEO Sammy Rubin commented: “It is a logical step for us to partner with makers of wearable activity trackers, but I feel extremely lucky to count the countries two biggest providers within the UK market as our partners. We are passionate about helping our customers take care of themselves and stay healthy, so being able to offer them large discounts on such quality products means a lot to us. Yulife users will further be able to focus on their wellbeing with this new initiative. I look forward to seeing all of the great results.”

Aideen O’Colmain, Director Business Development EMEA, Fitbit Health Solutions commented: “Fitbit Health Solutions deliver a 24/7 health and wellness solution to drive healthy behaviour change. Our solutions motivate and engage people in a personalised health experience. The rich set of features help employees connect and compete with each other in a constructive way. Engaged employees have a noticeable and positive impact on any business. Fitbit enjoys working with companies that inspire meaningful change and whose ambitions align with the Fitbit mission to make everyone in the world healthier.

Insurance Edge comment;

Great deal for Yulife and it shows the potential that wearable tech has for insurers. If people feel they are getting a big reward on something, then they will trade their data. That in turn lets insurers and brokers offer motor, travel, gadget, illness cover & more.

We have a feeling that the Yulife giraffe is going to be seen all over the UK in the next few years – exciting times.
