India’s Digit Insurance has launched a new policy that specifically covers some risks associated with the CoronaVirus, or COVID-19 as some organisations call it.
How does it work? If the test for Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) is found positive from any of the authorized centres of ICMR – National Institute of Virology, Pune, Digit will give you 100% of the Sum Insured. No need to wait for the completion of treatment.
If you are quarantined in a Govt or Military hospital for at least 14 consecutive days, Digit say that they will give you 50% lump sum of the Sum Insured. This is applicable even if Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) is later negative as it covers the screening & treatment costs.
The policy does NOT cover the over 60s, the most at-risk age group, nor does it cover you if you travel outside India. There are some other exclusions, detailed on the Digit website.
