Hiro Teams Up With WhenFresh on Superfast Home Quotes

Hiro, a tech start-up that is aiming to be the most technologically-advanced home insurer in the world, has partnered with award-winning residential property data provider WhenFresh, to offer customers insurance quotes in just 4-6 questions and 60 seconds or less.

Hiro’s app-based home insurance, which has just launched in the UK, is aimed at tech-savvy homeowners, offering deeply discounted home insurance to customers who make their houses safer using smart technology like cameras, video doorbells, and leak detectors.

Hiro is exceptionally easy to use; when a customer enters their address on the Hiro app, virtually all the property attributes, risk, peril, and valuation data needed to generate a quote is instantly prepopulated via the WhenFresh API. This means the customer is only required to answer between 4 to 6 simple questions before seeing a price, which makes it a significantly faster and easier process than answering the 50+ questions required by traditional insurers.

“Customers live in a world where they can summon food, transport or the answer to any question with a couple of taps on a smartphone,” says Hiro CEO and Co-Founder, Krystian Zajac. “So why does your old insurer still have a fax machine?”

Zajac argues that peoples’ lives are increasingly characterised by slick, on-demand, personalised experiences, and, by contrast, traditional insurance feels decades behind the curve. “Incumbent insurers will have to innovate – and soon – or risk getting disrupted by challengers like Hiro as customers vote with their wallets,” says Zajac.

Hiro’s chosen data partner, WhenFresh, has created what it calls the UK’s first residential property “Data Supermarket”, bringing together over 200 proprietary, private, and public property datasets and making them available via a single, simple API integration.

WhenFresh CEO and co-founder, Mark Cunningham, explains: “We’re really excited to be working with Hiro and it’s a perfect example of why we built the WhenFresh API. There’s no need to ask customers reams of questions about when the property was built, with what materials, with how
many rooms, etc., or more challenging questions, such as how tall the nearest tree is, how close it is to water, or factors relating to the risk of subsidence or floods. WhenFresh instantly handles all that behind the scenes, so the quote process becomes quick and simple for the customer and Hiro can focus on the discounts it gives for homes with smart gadgetry.”

With WhenFresh’s help, Hiro smooths out the complicated calculations that go into an insurance quote and offers customers a clean, app-first experience that feels more like Uber or Netflix than home insurance. This means a much better experience for customers, and a significant reduction in quote abandonment for Hiro, driving down acquisition costs and increasing customer satisfaction.
