It’s been a while since we featured a senior hires and job moves round-up, so here we go;

CHUBB

Chubb has named Kevin Rampe Head of Chubb North America Claims, succeeding Bill Hazelton, who has been appointed to a newly created role centered on a number of strategic initiatives in Chubb’s North America businesses.

Mr. Rampe previously served as Chubb’s Global Deputy General Counsel.  In his new role, he will oversee all aspects of Chubb’s North America commercial and personal lines claims. In addition, he will oversee efforts to provide claims insights to Chubb’s underwriters, clients, agents and brokers, as well as ensure client satisfaction in the handling of all claims. Mr. Rampe will report to Mike Smith, Senior Vice President, Chubb Group and Global Claims Officer, and will be based in Jersey City, N.J.

ARDONAGH

The Ardonagh Group announces the promotions of Ian Donaldson to the new position of CEO, Ardonagh Retail and of Emma Rawlinson as Atlanta Group CEO (subject to regulatory approval).

Emma has been Atlanta Group CFO for two years where she played an integral role in the turnaround and digital transformation of Swinton. She was previously CFO and business strategy and performance director at Swinton. Emma brings a wealth of retail and M&A experience to Atlanta. Prior to joining the broking sector she held senior positions including UK CEO of the technology firm In Touch Networks, CFO of regional private equity investor NorthEdge Capital and spent seven years with Deloitte.

She currently holds responsibility for finance, operations, customer, marketing, people and is the executive sponsor of the Atlanta OurFamily community forum. As CEO she will lead a 40% female executive team.

Atlanta is a leading digital personal lines broking group. Its trading brands include Swinton, Carole Nash, Autonet, Lloyd Latchford, Marmalade, Healthy Pets, Be Wiser and Paymentshield. It has grown rapidly and today employs 2,400 colleagues across 12 sites in the UK and Ireland and handles c. £1billion GWP on behalf of 3 million customers. Atlanta’s leader Emma will report to Ian Donaldson as CEO of Ardonagh Retail. In addition to providing oversight and guidance of Atlanta, Ian will lead on cross-group retail initiatives including personal lines data initiatives and the Atlanta Hub, as Ardonagh continues its global expansion.

CONSUMER INTELLIGENCE

Acclaimed insurance market insight business Consumer Intelligence has appointed former LV= aggregator expert Karen Houseago as its newly created Head of Insurance – a role designed to strengthen the company’s in-house insurance industry expertise. Houseago started working for Consumer Intelligence in June 2021 as a consultant. Now she will take up a permanent position helping to drive closer alignment between the company’s services and client needs.

Prior to joining Consumer Intelligence, Houseago was at LV= for over 17 years, working her way up from Marketing Executive to a lead role heading up the aggregator team.

LIBERTY SPECIALITY

Liberty Specialty Markets (LSM), part of Liberty Mutual Insurance Group, has appointed Simone Jurina as Business Development Manager, LSM Italy, based in Milan. Jurina is responsible for all aspects of business development including market engagement and broker relationship management. He reports to Antonio Sacchi, General Manager, Liberty Specialty Markets Italy.

Antonio Sacchi said: “I am delighted to welcome Simone to LSM.  He brings a wealth of market knowledge, a powerful ‘can do’ attitude and a strong team ethos. He will contribute to shaping LSM’s profile in Italy and achieving our ambitious growth goals, both here and in Continental Europe.” Jurina joins from QBE Insurance where he was Market Manager for their Italian branch.  He has 15 years of industry experience, in business development and underwriting.

CARBON UNDERWRITING

Carbon Underwriting Limited (Carbon), the leading specialist, independent managing general underwriter (MGU), is pleased to announce the appointment of Hugo Bashall as Head of Operations. Hugo began his insurance career at MS Amlin, performing a number of roles across operations and strategy, including establishing and running an office overseas. A qualified management accountant, his most recent role before joining Carbon was as Head of Operations for MS Amlin’s reinsurance business unit.

Prior to working at MS Amlin, Hugo was an Analyst with Advanced Power, a privately owned company that develops and manages power generation and related infrastructure projects throughout Europe and North America.

MARSHMALLOW

Marshmallow, the digital insurance unicorn, has appointed Caroline Gillard as its first Chief People Officer as part of its broader strategy to scale its culture as the business continues its high-growth trajectory. The appointment, which became effective on 14th September, comes just weeks after Marshmallow announced its $85mn Series B fundraise, which valued the company at $1.25bn, making it one of the first UK unicorns founded by people of Black heritage.

Having previously held roles at Babylon Health, Moonpig, McArthurGlen and Skype, Gillard brings 20 years of experience in HR to her new role. As part of her remit, she will lead the company’s people, talent and learning operations and advance Marshmallow’s commitment to its unique culture. She will report to Alexander Kent-Braham, Co-Founder and Co-CEO.

Marshmallow also recently appointed Sam Knott as Vice President of Marketing to support its efforts to build brand awareness, reputation and engagement as the company continues on its ambitious growth plans, which have already seen customers double in the last 12 months. He joined from Dyson, where he had served as the company’s Global E-Commerce Director and held Marketing Director roles in Japan and the US, helping build a globally recognisable brand and boost revenue growth.

SEDGWICK

Sedgwick, a leading global provider of technology-enabled risk, benefits and integrated business solutions, announced that Ian Hasson has joined the company as an executive major and complex loss adjuster and director of its financial risks team in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and will be based in Zurich.

In his new role, Hasson will be responsible for securing new business opportunities for the financial risks team across the entire EMEA region, strengthening client relationships, and ensuring the delivery of best-in-class services to current and prospective clients.

“There is significant demand for our expertise in handling financial risk claims,” said Stewart Steel, Sedgwick CEO for CEMEA. Ian’s appointment strengthens and consolidates our position in this area.”

Hasson brings to Sedgwick over 30 years of forensic accounting experience. He is dualqualified as a chartered loss adjuster and chartered accountant. He is also a leading expert in handling high-profile and complex industrial, cyber and COVID-19 claims. He has served as
an expert witness in multiple arbitration and litigation proceedings.

RUSSELL SCANLAN

Independent insurance broker, Russell Scanlan has appointed a new senior executive to the team to help manage the growth that this 140 year old business is experiencing  – as covid regulations continue to ease and old and new clients return in some numbers for Russell Scanlan’s specialist advice and services.

Noel Marriott who has moved from Mansfield based AIPS, will be joining the team in a significant role for the business: “I have in fact an existing connection to Russell Scanlan. Director, Simon Winiarski was my mentor back in the very early days of my career at a previous insurance broker and we have kept in touch ever since.

“The business has always been front of mind for me. WESTHILL

Westhill is adding to its core leadership team with the appointment of Derek Glerum as Vice-President of Operations, and Jenna Kinsman as Senior Director of Insurance Sales. In addition, Westhill has named Ben Kelley, formerly Head of Client Success, as Senior Director of Solutions Development.

Derek’s experience will facilitate growth and scalability, enabling Westhill to improve friction points within the claims journey to deliver a best-in-class experience for customers.

Jenna has 10+ years of industry experience and joins from HOVER. She has an extensive background in the industry, including Farmers Insurance, having worked as a property adjuster and then product manager for property specialty lines across six US states. She has deep expertise in underwriting, claims, technology, and insurance workflows.

Ben joined Westhill two years ago and is promoted to Senior Director of Solutions Development. He has more than 17 years of experience, starting as an adjuster at Travelers, and then as vendor manager at Chubb. At Westhill, he has played a key role in achieving notable milestones and in forming strategic partnerships with top 10 carriers.
