Good news from Zego, who have anounced WFH is not just for lockdowns, it’s forever. Here’s the word from Zegon Central;
Commercial motor insurance provider Zego has introduced full time flexible working for staff, while announcing a raft of new policies to support remote working, employee development and wellbeing. The introduction of the policies comes at the end of a year which has seen the company more than double its head count, making significant hires in the engineering and product teams.
Zego’s new ‘flexible-first’ workplace principle will mean employees will be better supported when working remotely, allowing the company to attract and accommodate top talent from all over the world.
The new policy was introduced after an internal survey found that 91% of Zegons value the flexibility and choice of where they work from, but also discovered a number of staff still prefer to work from the office. This policy helps to accommodate both, with the principle supplemented by an annual contribution of £1,000 per employee to support at-home work equipment and wellbeing, as well as day-to-day working, such as travel to its main office or other shared working spaces.
Team leaders have also been provided with an additional budget to increase virtual and in-person social connections so that employees can continue to build relationships with one another in between ‘all employee’ work and social events, reintroduced from March 2022 onwards.
The company continues to offer an annual £500 learning and development allowance per person to give employees access to a range of courses or materials that will improve personal and professional development.
Kingsley Macey, Chief People Officer at Zego, said: “As we continue to grow our team and attract top talent, it is important that we offer our employees full flexibility to suit individual needs and preferences.
“Enabling working styles that employees control is a huge part of our Flexible First policy. We are committed to enhancing our distributed working, giving people unlimited access to physical spaces if they want it, and also thoughtfully bringing people together to nurture our culture. Our flexible-first approach will allow Zegons to find out what really works for them, whilst also giving them extra support in making any necessary adjustments to their work style. ‘We’re in it together’ and ‘Innovating Responsibly’ and that’s what counts.”
Zego, founded in 2016, provides flexible commercial insurance products for businesses, including self employed drivers and entire vehicle fleets, from car leasing companies to new mobility operators. The company has provided more than 17 million insurance policies and covered more than 200,000 vehicles in five countries – recently becoming the UK’s first insurtech unicorn after raising $150 million in a Series C fundraise.
Flexi hours have been a staple feature in the public sector for decades, so it’s great to see that freedom of choice spread across insurance. Plus, you HAVE to form a house band called The Zegons. Just do it.
