Job Moves & Senior Hires 18.02.22

Here is another round up of senior appointments and job moves;

BEAZLEY

Beazley, a market leader in cyber insurance, has announced two senior leadership hires to its global Cyber Services  team. Russ Cohen has been appointed Head of US Cyber Services, and Bala Larson (pictured) joins as Head of Client Experience. Russ will oversee risk management and incident response functions in the US, while Bala will work to ensure that Beazley continues delivering the best possible services to its cyber clients.

Russ has been helping organizations prevent cyber losses and business interruption for over 25 years, most recently at Chubb, where he pioneered the integration of digital servicing technologies to deliver cyber threat insights to customers and played a pivotal role in the company’s enhanced incident response and loss mitigation service offerings.

A Beazley employee of 15 years, Bala joined in 2007 as a middle market specialty lines underwriter. Currently managing the Northwest Region while also underwriting strategic large accounts for the region’s top broker partners, Bala is perfectly poised to transfer her substantial experience to heading up Client Experience.

ONE COMMERCIAL

One Commercial Specialty, the specialist MGA, has appointed Philippa Wilkin into a newly created role of senior underwriter. Philippa joined the business in January 2022. She will report to Dan Mitchell and James Russell, joint managing directors.

Dan Mitchell said: “It is great news for One Commercial that we have appointed such a well-regarded and experienced underwriter. Philippa brings a wealth of experience from her previous senior roles in the professional indemnity sector and will play a pivotal role in supporting our drive for profitable growth across our business.”

SANTE GROUP

Brian Hall, the former chief commercial officer of BHSF, has joined the board of Santé Group to lead it through a growth plan. Hall spent 19 years at the not-for-profit BHSF, transforming it from a health insurer turning over £14 million to a leader in health and wellbeing group with annual revenues of £60 million employing approximately 300 people.

Under Hall’s guidance, the Santé Group will be looking to grow through diversification, acquisitions and strategic partnerships to build the Group’s insurance premium book to £55 million by 2025.

Following the success of PMI intermediary Nugent Santé,  the Group was established in 2019 by Paul Nugent and now comprises life insurance business Santé Life, broker support business ArchAngel and specialist private medical insurance broker network, Santé Partners.

HCML REHAB

HCML, one of the UK’s most comprehensive providers of rehabilitation treatment and case management solutions, has appointed Dr Rebecca Brady as Medical Director.

In her new role, Dr Brady will oversee the clinical care provided through HCML’s rehabilitation and treatment services. This includes providing clinical leadership across the specialist medical divisions and being responsible for defining the vision of quality improvement and upholding clinical governance for the business. As part of this, Dr Brady will also be responsible for supporting the wellbeing of HCML’s employees.

Dr Brady is a qualified GP and will continue to practice alongside her new role with HCML. She brings a broad background in different areas of medicine, initially training in psychiatry before specialising as a GP. She also has a special interest in dermatology and menopause management. With a patient-centric focus, Dr Brady takes a holistic approach, bringing a wealth of experience and knowledge from the NHS to deliver the best outcomes for her patients.

ROCK INSURANCE

 ROCK Insurance Group has welcomed six new employees within the first month of 2022, who have joined the leading travel insurance group to further develop the business as a driving force within the industry.

Jokin Doria, Head of Change

To ensure the business’ growth and profitability, as part of the group’s ambitious plans, Jokin Doria has joined the team at ROCK after 10 years at MAPFRE ASISTENCIA. As Head of Change Jokin is an expert in change management and transformation, with experience across Asia-Pacific and the UK, and he will be an integral part of the company as it continues to grow within the market.

Danny Everett, Head of Product

Danny Everett has joined ROCK Insurance Group as Head of Product. With over 10 years’ experience working with AXA Group within the travel insurance team, Danny brings with him a wealth of industry experience. Leading on the product life cycle at ROCK, Danny is responsible for overseeing product offering with a focus on product governance, creating and maintaining policy documentation, and working towards constant product improvements.

Alistair Ball, Senior Partnerships Manager

Key appointments have also been made within the partnerships department, with Alistair Ball joining as Senior Partnership Manager, bringing with him over 25 years of experience in the insurance sector. A central role to the team, Alistair works with many internal and external teams, to ensure excellent customer service, across the board.

Paulina Gutierrez, Tony Dunne and Matt Prescott, Partnership Managers

Working with Alistair in the partnerships team, three new Partnership Managers compete the new appointments line-up, with Paulina Gutierrez, Tony Dunne and Matt Prescott all having recently joined. With varying key responsibilities in the department, the Partnership Managers join ROCK Insurance Group to support partner growth and daily client management.

ROKSTONE

Rokstone, the International Speciality (Re)Insurance MGA, part of the Aventum Group, has announced the appointment of Jo Lambe as Digital Product Development Manager as it grows its dedicated digital underwriting team.

Jo will be responsible for the digital transformation of Rokstone’s existing products and leading the development of new native digital products.  The appointment is part of a multi-million pound investment being made by Aventum in the digital transformation of the Group that was announced last year.  Further appointments are expected in the coming months.

Jo Lambe comes to Rokstone with more than 20 years’ experience underwriting complex commercial insurance.  She joins from Simply Business where she spent nine years as an underwriter responsible for the growth and profitability of some of its major accounts, and latterly as its Technical MGA Manger overseeing the creation and suitability of products, responsible for product governance and fair value product reviews.  Prior to that she spent 10 years with Aviva as a Commercial Underwriter and four years as an underwriter with Ecclesiastical.

ARAG

Leading after-the-event insurance provider ARAG has appointed Emma Wilson to the key role of ATE Account Manager for western England. Reporting to Mike Knight, ARAG’s UK Sales Manager for after-the-event business, Emma is responsible for developing new relationships with solicitors and nurturing existing ones in the North West, West Midlands and Bristol. Emma brings experience working in both the legal expenses insurance sector as well as for law firms, including Bott and Co.

Commenting on the appointment, Mike Knight said “Emma brings the perfect mix of legal and insurance experience. As a law graduate, CILEX member and from her time working at law firms, she genuinely appreciates the needs of our solicitor partners.

Responding to Mike’s comments, Emma added “ARAG’s reputation as an innovative and progressive business that is truly committed to providing access to justice is very appealing. I am excited to get out and meet our solicitor partners and looking forward to developing relationships with firms that may be new to ARAG.”

MARSH

Marsh has announced the appointment of Nick Faull as Head of Climate and Sustainability Risk, effective 1 April 2022. Based in London, Mr. Faull will report to Amy Barnes, Head of Climate and Sustainability Strategy, Marsh.

In this role, Mr. Faull will help to develop Marsh’s global sustainability and climate services – including risk modelling and management – to support clients as they transition towards net zero carbon emissions. Mr. Faull will also work closely with Ms. Barnes and Ryan Bond, Head of Climate and Sustainability Insurance Innovation, to develop new services and solutions that will address emerging risks around the environment and the circular economy.
