The second stage of the 2022 Tour de Insurtech has been successfully completed, with Chris Carney from CGI taking the yellow jersey as group leader.
This fun cycling event kicked off at the Royal Hotel this morning in leafy Tunbridge Wells, with the route taking in scenic villages, winding lanes and a few hill climbs to test the riders’ stamina before the obligatory cake stop. And what a cake it was, roughly the size of a laptop bag although far more edible.
The rider group included experienced and relative newbies, so it was good to get a few roadcraft tips like giving clear hand signals, so the less attentive Kentish drivers get a heads up. Mike Laurenson noted that it was ` a baptism of fire’ as regards getting back into cycling, but loved the vibe and the catch up with the group. Tour Stage completed in time for lunch, medium pace, large grins and banter all round.
The Kent countryside was blessed with clement weather which gave the riders a chance to see the amazing scenery. That’s probably the greatest thing about two-wheeled travel, you’re an integral part of the unfolding landscape, not just watching it through a screen.

The Cake of Power.
Tomorrow’s Stage is in the historic city of Nottingham, being lead by Percayso-Inform’s Rich Tomlinson.
