Insurance United Against Dementia (IUAD) are preparing for the next Insurance Day of Giving which is going to be on Thursday 1st December 2022. This is a cause which is close to the hearts of many people in the insurance sector. So as the festive season approaches, it’s a chance to do something positive and make a difference at this special time of the year. Here’s the word;
The Insurance Day of Giving is a chance for the industry to unite to fundraise and raise awareness of dementia. Firms across the industry including AXA UK, AXA XL, WTW, Crawford & Company, Sedgwick and Aviva have already committed to taking part on 1 December. Last year many firms had to think out of the box to plan fundraising ideas but this year IUAD have launched a virtual balloon race to make it easy for everyone to take part.
Richard Dudley, Global Head of Climate Strategy, Aon and Chair of IUAD Board, said, “We are really grateful for the generous support of the industry when it comes to supporting Alzheimer’s Society and IUAD, There are 900,000 people living with dementia in our society today and it’s vital now more than ever before to help Alzheimer’s Society raise funds to continue work within the research space to create a hope for a better tomorrow.”
The virtual balloon race is now live. Everyone can take part and every donation and contribution makes a real difference to the lives of people living with dementia. Last year the industry came together with creative ideas to mark Insurance Day of Giving and raised £150,000. This year it’s a brilliant opportunity to bring teams, firms, businesses together in a moment to unite for a great cause. This year, IUAD are delighted that Zurich Community Trust (ZCT), Zurich’s charitable arm in the UK, has generously offered to champion the day through a matched funding scheme. ZCT will be match funding donations made upon sign up to the day and any fundraising up to £100,000. This is a great opportunity to double the contribution the industry can make to people affected by dementia.
The Insurance United Against Dementia campaign is an Alzheimer’s Society initiative championed by leaders from across the insurance sector who have joined the Society’s movement to raise awareness and change the lives of people with dementia.
