Latest Job Moves and Senior Appontments 03.04.2023

It’s time for another round up of job moves and senior hires, so here goes;

CHUBB

Chubb thas announced the appointment of Benoit Chasseguet as Country President for France. Subject to regulatory approval, the appointment is effective immediately.

Currently Regional Marine Manager for Continental Europe since 2013, Benoit succeeds Veronique Brionne who has decided to leave the company.

In his new role, Benoit will be responsible for Chubb’s property and casualty, accident and health, and consumer lines operations across France. He will continue to be based in Paris and will report to Sara Mitchell, Division President for Chubb in Continental Europe, Middle East and North Africa.

MARSH McCLENNAN

The Board of Directors of Marsh McLennan (NYSE: MMC), the world’s leading professional services firm in the areas of risk, strategy and people, appointed Judith Hartmann, age 53, and Ray G. Young, age 61, as directors effective immediately. With these appointments, the Company’s Board will consist of 15 directors.

“We are committed to best practices in corporate governance, including effective succession planning and Board refreshment,” said H. Edward Hanway, Chairman of the Company’s Board of Directors. “Judith and Ray bring deep and diverse financial, international operations and governance experience to our Board. We look forward to working alongside them.”

Ms. Hartmann was Deputy CEO and Chief Financial Officer of ENGIE, an international energy services company, from 2015 to 2022. Prior to joining ENGIE, she served as Chief Financial Officer and member of the Executive Board of international media and services corporation Bertelsmann from 2012 to 2015, and held a number of financial and operational roles at General Electric in the US, Latin America and Europe from 2000 to 2012. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of Unilever and has previously served on the boards of Suez, RTL Group, Penguin Random House and Gruner + Jahr.

MOSAIC

Mosaic’s Co-CEO Mitch Blaser (pictured centre) has been inducted into the George Washington School of Business (GWSB) Entrepreneurial Hall of Fame.

The honor, awarded at an inaugural induction ceremony last night on the GW campus in Washington DC, recognizes GWSB alumni and faculty who have made significant contributions to entrepreneurial excellence across the United States and around the world.

Blaser was among the first group of 11 awardees, which included industry figures such as real-estate developer Charles Bendit; founder of the Greater Washington Black Chamber of Commerce, Antwanye Ford; data analytics pioneer George Moore; community and business leader and speaker LaJuanna Y. Russell; winemaker Susie Selby; and author George Solomon.

PEN UNDERWRITING

Pen Underwriting announces that Erik Alsegard (pictured) has been appointedto the newly created role of Head of Intellectual Property(IP),with effect from 1 April 2023, as it continues to invest in extending and diversifying its product offering for the benefit of brokers and their clients.

Bringing 18 years’ specialist experience in IP insurance, on both the underwriting and broking side,Erik joins from Gallagher where he helped establish its new broking specialism as IP Director, following a seven-year tenure heading up CFC Underwriting’s IP practice.

Prior to that, Erik was senior IP underwriter at Munich Re, having first honed his IP skills and expertise at Miller. AtPen, Erik willdrive the development of a comprehensive portfolio of IPrisk solutions, tailored to the needs of all size segments, from start-ups and SMEs to large and complex companies, while building out multiple ways to trade with Pen. Particular focus will be given to those industries that are seeing significant and consistent growth in the extent and value of their intangible assets, with a broad underwriting appetite across most sectors.

IRLA

IRLA, the global membership organisation for insurance and reinsurance legacy professionals, has today confirmed the structure of its new board for 2023/24.

Succession planning began towards the end of 2022, and now sees three long-time members stepping down from board posts, with four new appointees.

Those joining the board are representative of a large breadth of organisations from within the sector, bringing a deep level of experience and knowledge across both the UK and international activity.

From 1 April, the newly appointed directors will be as follows:

Richard Burrows from Weightmans LLP.

Heavily involved with IRLA since 2017, Richard is a Liverpool-based lawyer and will continue to have a keen interest in the young professionals element of the organisation, serving as Chairman of YPG.

Adam Horridge from Swiss Re.

Singapore-based, Adam is a transaction specialist and was formerly Chairman of YPG, as well as having previously won the accolade of Young Professional of the Year.

Liam Bedford from Kennedys LLP.

A barrister, and based in Leeds, Liam won the Young Professional of the Year Award in 2021. He will be heavily involved in the future pathway of the academy programme.

Gian Luigi di Franco from Riverstone.

Recently qualified as a lawyer, Gian Luigi is based in Ipswich and is an in-house solicitor who also served as Deputy Chairman of YPG until 2021. He is currently Company Secretary of the Legacy Claims Committee (“LCL”) and will also become a director of LCL.

HDI GLOBAL

On 1 July 2023, Konstantinos Semertzoglou will take over the executive management of the HDI Global branch office in Greece. Predecessor Notis Vagiakakos will retire after leading the branch successfully for almost 20 years.

Konstantinos Semertzoglou already joins the Greek branch of HDI Global on 1 April 2023. Notis Vagiakakos will accompany him in a transition period to enable a smooth handover. Subject to approval by the responsible regulatory authorities, Semertzoglou will take over leadership of the Greek branch on 1 July 2023. Vagiakakos will act as a consultant thereafter.

I wish him all the best for his retirement”, says David Hullin, Board member at HDI Global with responsibility for international markets.

BMS

BMS, the independent specialist insurance and reinsurance broker, announces the appointment of Monica Tigleanu as divisional director, cyber strategy. Following regulatory approval, Tigleanu will be based in Bermuda and will report to Adam Mullan, executive chairman of BMS Re Bermuda, with a dotted line to Chris Madell, managing director of financial and professional lines at BMS.

In her role, Tigleanu’s primary focus will be to future-proof BMS’ cyber strategy by developing innovative products tailored for the ever-evolving cyber risk landscape. She will leverage her global network to bring together new capacity from various insurance hubs and spearhead the creation of distinctive facilities offering coverage currently unavailable in the market.

Tigleanu has extensive knowledge of the cyber insurance market, having worked within the sector for more than 10 years as both an underwriter and broker. Tigleanu joins BMS from her most recent role as a senior cyber underwriter at Munich Re. Prior to this, she worked as a cyber property damage leader at Marsh. Tigleanu has also held senior positions at companies such as Beazley, AIG and Travelers and she sits on Relay’s board of advisers.

SWEDISH CLUB

The Swedish Club is looking to the future with the expansion and restructuring of the Club’s management team. In a move designed to reflect today’s complex business landscape it has announced three new roles which will position the Club to anticipate and meet the changing demands of its members and business partners.

This follows the strengthening of the Club’s regional presence with two new high-profile appointments in Hong Kong and London announced last month.Thorbjörn Emanuelsson has been appointed Director, Underwriting; Johan Kahlmeter will step into the position of Director, Claims; and Magnus Axelsson has been appointed Director IT and Digital Transformation.
