Deals: AA Insurance Goes Live on CDL Strata

AA Insurance Services has gone live on CDL Strata, taking advantage of its sophisticated insurance ecosystem to deliver a step change in the insurance provider’s digital capabilities and act as an enabler for the realisation of ambitious growth and efficiency targets.

With a phased programme to migrate around 2 million car and home policies from its in-house legacy system to CDL, the move gives AA Insurance Services access to extensive contact centre and digital features to enhance the customer journey, including the self-service portal, which customers can access as a single sign-on from the AA portal.

The brand also benefits from greater control of the user experience, with CDL APIs enabling it to build and maintain its own quote and buy journeys and to leverage CDL’s proactive insurance service, generating indicative quotes to cross-sell to existing and prospective customers.

Steve Martin, Programme Director at the AA said: “The key goal of establishing the CDL platform within our Insurance business, aside from enabling a great customer experience, is to provide a strong platform which enables swift exploration, innovation and delivery, coupled with efficient and effective support and maintenance. CDL provides increased opportunity for the AA to interact with our insurance customers when, where and how they choose and will be a major growth enabler moving forward.”

As CDL is a cloud-only operation, the migration also delivers a number of advantages in terms of resilience, performance, security and scalability, with the platform hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) giving access to advanced technologies to enhance customer experience and system capabilities.

Strata also integrates with AA Insurance’s in-house insurer hosted pricing (IHP) engine to enable it to bring new products to market quickly.

Martin explained: “A major driver for us was the ability to add breadth and depth to our product range, with the combination of real time business intelligence and ease of data integration creating new possibilities when it comes to identifying gaps in the market and responding swiftly.”

Commenting on the launch, CDL CEO Nigel Phillips said: “AA Insurance is a highly regarded and growing insurance brand, with an ambitious programme of change and an exciting product road map; we are delighted to be partnering with them in delivering robust and resilient technology infrastructure, while supporting their transformation agenda.”

The deployment also integrates a number of anti-fraud tools, including CDL Hummingbird to detect online quote manipulation at point-of-quote and Iovation for device identification and authentication.
