The latest from SSP, who are celebrating 40 years in business in 2024.
SSP Worldwide, the Yorkshire-headquartered technology provider to the insurance industry, is celebrating four decades in the insurance sector this month, as the business enters a new era in its history with a firm focus on growth and innovation. Currently employing over 500 people, some of whom have been with the business since day one, SSP Worldwide puts the long-term professional partnerships it has developed with key players in the market down to the strength of talent, experience, and commitment to service delivery within its team.
1984, when the company was formed under the Policy Master name might seem like another world now. The Apple Mac was only just on sale, Ghostbusters was in cinemas, and the average house price was just £29,000. Careless Whisper by George Michael and Shout by Tears for Fears topped the charts while big hair, mullets, rah-rah skirts and shoulder pads were all the rage.
As a group, SSP is now a leading global supplier of technology systems and software for the insurance industry, helping insurance providers operate more efficient businesses, from policy administration systems to market-leading tools for rating and combatting application fraud. SSP Broker is a key part of this group, bringing a dedicated focus to the U.K. broking community offering insurance software to help brokers manage their clients and policies more efficiently and effectively.
Colin Greenhill, CEO of SSP Worldwide said. “Along with hairstyles, the insurance sector has come a long way since 1984. The 1980s was a time of significant acquisitions and diversification and by the year 2000, two British-owned insurers were leading the sector. Jump forward to today and the market is pretty much transformed, thanks in large part to the emergence of technology to speed quotes and improve the customer journey. Brokers no longer need to act as translators of information provided by the consumer or spend time manually searching for quotes. Automation has freed up time to allow brokers to do what they do best – deliver great customer service – and SSP Worldwide is proud to be an enabler in that process.”
“A company reflects its people, and with the highly experienced team we now have on board at SSP Worldwide and a record level of investment in R&D for 2024, we are well-placed to effectively support the broker market as it tackles the ever-changing regulatory landscape.”
