Time once again for the weekly job moves and senior appointments news;

LOCKTON

Lockton, the world’s largest independent insurance broker, has appointed Paul Jones as Head of Parametric Solutions (UK & Europe) within its Property & Casualty (P&C) Specialties division. In his new role Jones will be responsible for developing and growing Lockton’s Parametric proposition, working across their entire Specialty businesses and in close collaboration with their other Parametric and Alternative Risk Transfer specialists in Latin America, USA, AsiaPac and the UK.

Jones brings a wealth of leadership experience, industry knowledge and expertise to Lockton. He joins from Descartes Underwriting where he served as Commercial Director for the UK and Ireland. He previously served over 10 years at AXA XL in a variety of roles. At Lockton, Jones will report into Andrzej Danyluk, Head of International Property, and Diego Monsalve, who serves as LatAm Head of Parametric Solutions.

ASCOT GROUP

Ascot Group Limited, the Bermuda based global specialty insurance company, today announced the appointments of Ian Thompson to Chief Executive Officer and Director of Ascot Underwriting Limited (“AUL”) and Justin Keith to President and Chief Executive Officer of Ascot Bermuda Limited. These promotions represent a major step forward in Ascot’s evolution, organizational maturity, and highlights the bench of industry leaders within the organization.

Ian Thompson has been appointed to the position of CEO Director of AUL (subject to regulatory approval). Ian will replace Jonathan Zaffino as CEO and Director of AUL. He will relocate to London from Bermuda, where he has lived and worked for the past 15 years. In his new role, Thompson will continue to report to Zaffino in his role as Ascot Group President and CEO and will remain a member of the Global Executive Committee.

ARCH INSURANCE

Arch Insurance International has announced the appointment of Ketan Motwani as UK Chief Operating Officer (COO), effective immediately. The role is subject to regulatory approval.

As UK COO, Motwani will be responsible for overseeing key UK functions, including underwriting operations, process and operational excellence, and strategic portfolio management, working closely with the wider senior leadership team at Arch to support the company’s overall growth strategy.

Based in London, he will report to Hugh Sturgess, Chief Executive Officer for Arch Insurance International.

Motwani brings over 20 years of experience in insurance operations and transformation leadership to the role. He joins Arch from Aon UK where he was most recently Chief Operating Officer- Commercial Risk (Global, Wholesale & Specialty Broking) with responsibilities spanning transformation, service delivery, operations, and digital platforms. Prior to joining Aon, he held senior roles at Deloitte focused on insurance strategy, operations, and technology.

CHARLES TAYLOR

Charles Taylor, a leading provider of professional services and technology solutions to the global insurance industry, announces that Clay Humphries has joined the firm as Executive Vice President of Property and Casualty in the United States.

In his new role, Humphries will oversee the growth and operational management of Charles Taylor’s property and casualty loss adjusting business. With over 40 years of experience in the insurance claims industry, Humphries brings a wealth of knowledge and leadership to the organization.

THE GENEVA ASSOCIATION

The Geneva Association announces  that Lee Yuan Siong, Group Chief Executive and President of AIA, was appointed Chairman of the organisation at its spring 2024 board meeting on 5 June. Mr Lee, who has been Vice Chairman of The Geneva Association since November 2021, succeeds outgoing Chairman Christian Mumenthaler, CEO of Swiss Re.

Three members of the Association were also elected to the board of directors at the 2024 General Assembly on 6 June: Satoru Komiya, CEO, Tokio Marine; Pauline Leclerc-Glorieux, CEO, BNP Paribas Cardif; and Bianca Tetteroo, CEO and Chair of the Executive Board, Achmea.

APOLLO

Apollo, the innovative integrated insurance group, today announces the appointment of Monica Cramér Manhem as a new Independent Non-Executive Director of Apollo Syndicate Management Limited.

Monica brings extensive experience working within the (re)insurance industry in various leading roles, most recently as Chief Executive Officer of SiriusPoint International Insurance Corporation. As well as underwriting expertise, Monica brings strong communications, management, analytics, strategic and regulatory experience, which will support the delivery of Apollo’s strategy and growth objectives over the coming years. She has been named twice as one of Intelligent Insurer’s “Influential Women in (re)insurance.”

ORBITMI

RUSSELL SCANLAN

Mike Dickinson has been appointed Managing Director of Russell Scanlan – the highly regarded Chartered insurance broker and risk management firm that has been based in Nottingham since 1881.

Mike has been with the business since 1999 and most recently held the position of Sales & Marketing Director, responsible for driving the business development programme for the firm.

Russell Scanlan has also announced that its parent company, Acrisure UK Retail Ltd, has established its Midlands regional platform. As well as his new role within Russell Scanlan, Mike will become Managing Partner, Acrisure Midlands, a role which will see him assume overall responsibility for Acrisure’s growth in the region.

AON

Aon plc (NYSE: AON), a leading global professional services firm, announces that Edmund Reese will be appointed executive vice president and chief financial officer (CFO) of Aon, effective July 29, 2024.

Reese will join Aon on July 1 to succeed Christa Davies, who will certify second quarter 2024 results and then transition responsibilities and become a senior advisor to the firm until her previously-announced retirement. As Aon’s CFO, Reese will be responsible for the firm’s finance function and capital allocation strategy.

HDI GLOBAL

HDI Global announces the appointment of Stephanie Ogden as the CEO HDI Global UK & Ireland, effective as of 1 September 2024. Richard Taylor has made the decision to retire at the end of the year, but will then move into a consultancy role for the business.

The alignment of HDI’s Commercial and Specialty operations in the UK and Ireland associated with the personnel changes marks a clear direction of travel towards a more efficient organisational structure and cohesive value proposition. It will deliver a range of benefits for brokers, clients and employees. HOLTARA

Leading ESG business, Holtara, has appointed Yovanka Bylander Arroyo as its new Global Chief commercial Officer and Head of Americas. Based in New York, Yovanka will drive Holtara’s global growth and client success strategies, including expansion into new client segments and geographies. In her role as Head of Americas, Yovanka will specifically focus on growth and client success for that region.

HOWDEN

HOWDEN, the global insurance group, has welcomed Chris Harvey to its south Wales team in line with its continued growth. Chris joins the team as commercial account executive, having previously worked in commercial insurance roles at Towergate and Jelf. Most recently, he was a director and shareholder at a Rhondda-based, rapidly expanding family-owned business. In his new role, Chris will use his wealth of experience to assist commercial and corporate clients with all aspects of their insurances.

 Kova Professions, the MGA established to underwrite Professional Indemnity (PI), with the support of Mission Underwriters, today announced the appointments of Celeste Newson as Head of Professional Indemnity and Keeley Patten as Senior Underwriter. The MGA, led by CEO Kate Albert, launched earlier this year, offering UK PI insurance solutions to mid-market SMEs across all sectors.

Kate Albert said: “I am pleased to announce the expansion of the Kova Professions team with these two exceptional underwriters. With over 40 years of insurance experience between them, I am confident that their expertise will significantly enhance our capabilities to grow our portfolio and further solidify Kova’s position as a strong player in the professional indemnity market. Between us, we have a strong network of broker relationships upon which we will look to build and expand over the next year.”

Celeste joins Kova from Talbot, where she was most recently a Professional Lines and Liability Underwriter. She has previously held roles with AXA XL as an underwriter and at Caytons Law as a claims assessor.

Keeley has experience as both an underwriter and broker, and joins the business from AXIS where she has spent the last six years as a Senior Medical Malpractice Underwriter. She has previously worked as a Professional Indemnity broker and claims handler at Lockton, Aon and Miller.

WHITE BEAR

White Bear Group, owner of Blenheim Underwriting and MGA White Bear Managers, is pleased to announce the appointment of John Symms to the new role of group head of capital solutions. Symms will source and develop (re)insurance support for White Bear’s MGA lines and will coordinate reinsurance at Blenheim.

Symms joins from Fidelis and his appointment closely follows that of David Barber, announced in May. Both announcements underpin White Bear’s ambition to expand its two underwriting businesses.
