The time for action on insurance fraud is now, says DCL – here’s the word;
Direct Commercial Limited (DCL) and DWF are calling on the insurance industry to intensify efforts in combating fraud, following their joint win at the British Claims Awards 2024. The two firms were honoured with the Counter Fraud Award on 6 June, recognising their exemplary work in fraud prevention, safeguarding policyholders, and driving innovation and improvements that impact the wider market.
The award highlights DCL and DWF’s dedication to prosecuting fraudulent activities, not least a recent successful private prosecution which presented compelling evidence from DCL’s Camatics portal. The prosecution led to a 14-month sentence for the accused following conviction for fraudulent misrepresentation after a jury trial at Basildon Crown Court.
Carl Cripps, Claims Director at Direct Commercial Limited, said:
“I am pleased to see DCL and DWF win this prestigious award. We hope this will inspire more firms within the industry to pursue private prosecutions against fraudulent claims. We intend to keep raising the bar in our fight to protect policyholders and we urge others in the industry to join us in this crucial fight.”
Mathew Lynch, Director at DWF, commented:
“We are delighted to have won the Counter Fraud Award with DCL. It takes brave and bold steps to push boundaries and in doing so, DCL not only protect their customers, which is centric to their ethos, but the whole industry benefits as a result of it.”
The recognition of DCL and DWF’s efforts at the British Claims Awards underscores the importance of collaboration and innovation in tackling insurance fraud. Both firms are committed to setting higher standards and encouraging industry-wide participation in the fight against fraudulent activity.
