The latest from Focus, a Wokingham-based MGA specialising in construction insurance, who have launched a new construction binder in partnership with renowned global insurer, Markel – in what it calls “the most important binder our firm has secured in many years.”
Here’s the word;
The binder offers a ‘one-stop shop’ solution for all the core covers required by construction trades under a single policy, including preferential ratings. It also offers a business support package, which policyholders can access via the telephone at any time, a five-star in-house claims service from Markel, and wide-ranging, flexible wording.
Policy cover and target trades
At launch, this delegated authority facility with Markel will offer EL, PL, CAR and PI cover, but within a short period this will expand to include a full suite of products, including:

- Property Damage & BI
- Portable Property
- Money & Personal Assault
- Goods in Transit
- Personal Accident
- Professional Indemnity
- Directors & Officers Liability
- Entity Defence.
Additional covers will include efficacy, professional negligence, speculative development and show property contents extensions.
It targets a broad range of construction trades, including builders, electrical contractors, HVAC engineers, painters, plasterers, shopfitters, solar panel installers*, plumbers* and stone masons, among many others.
