The word from BMS as they welcome new apprentices, looking to establish a career path in the industry;
BMS Group (BMS), the independent specialist insurance and reinsurance broker, today announces the commencement of the 2nd edition of their early careers apprenticeship programme in London. Founded in 2023, the programme aims to develop and nurture a pipeline of skilled account handling and enabling colleagues, essential to supporting BMS’ ambitious growth plans over the next five years.
Through strategic partnerships with organisations such as Davies Group, Equity, East London Business Alliance, and the London Market Group’s ‘London Insurance Life’ campaign, BMS has successfully broadened its access to a wider and more diverse talent pool. The inaugural programme in 2023 welcomed a cohort of seven school and college leavers. In 2024, BMS has welcomed nine individuals on the programme, receiving a comprehensive introduction to the insurance industry and the opportunity to rotation through different teams and departments.
Ali Trauttmansdorff, group chief people officer, said:
“We are very proud of our apprenticeship programme and see it as an essential way to get young people – especially those without personal connections to the industry – interested in careers in insurance.”
Louisa Erwin, group head of diversity, equity and inclusion, said:
“I am delighted to see our apprenticeship programme return after a hugely successful debut year. It’s no secret that our industry has a way to go to become truly representative of the communities we serve, and it’s initiatives like this, delivered in conjunction with our incredible partners, which can help open up insurance to all.”
