SEDGWICK

Sedgwick, a leading global provider of claims management, loss adjusting and technology-enabled business solutions, has appointed Stephen Hearn as International Business Development Director.

Hearn’s career spans over two decades in the UK and Europe across a full spectrum of global claims and risk management sectors beginning as a construction loss adjustor, which then guided him into the insurance sector with leading companies in multiple roles. In these roles, he developed expertise in critical areas, including sector development, client relationship management, supervision and development across teams, global recovery projects, and managing claims across sectors.
MARKERSTUDY

Emma Rawlinson has been appointed into a newly created Markerstudy Group role, Chief Investment Officer, effective immediately.
Emma, who joined Markerstudy following the acquisition of Atlanta earlier this year, reports to Group CEO Kevin Spencer.
Kevin Spencer explained that in her new role, Emma will deal with capital raising, shareholder liaison and M&A, with the overall aim of utilising the Group’s investment capability to accelerate business growth. Mr Spencer said: “Emma’s background in private equity, as well as her time as CEO and CFO of Atlanta, gives her exactly the right credentials for this challenging new role, and underlines the scale of our ambition for the Group.”
Emma Rawlinson said: “The Group is at the threshold of an unprecedented phase of change and I am very excited to be leading our financial strategy.”
COALITION

Clarke joins from MetLife where he served as Actuarial Lead for numerous projects, including the MetLife Brexit project. He has over a decade of experience in the life insurance industry, including roles at Canada Life International, Standard Life and Aviva.
Murray joins from a role as an independent adviser, with clients including Irish Life and AXA, having previously spent over 15 years as a Senior Consultant at Milliman. He specialises in advising insurers on effective financial reporting, capital management and regulatory compliance, including IFRS 17, Solvency II and PRIIPs.
In their new roles, they will be focusing on further building the 4most Dublin team to tackle the challenges that are facing insurers in Ireland and the wider EU, from compliance with IFRS 17 reporting requirements, to balance sheet optimisation and automation.
Clarke and Murray’s appointments come as 4most expands specialist teams across Europe with the recent appointment of Richard Whiting as Client Partner in Amsterdam. 4most’s growth has resulted in offices spanning seven locations globally, including London, Leeds, Edinburgh, Dublin, Amsterdam, Dubai and Bengaluru.
In Ireland, 4most works with major banks such as AIB and Bank of Ireland, and with Irish subsidiaries of UK and Canadian insurers. 4most is also set to sponsor the Society of Actuaries (Ireland) Annual Convention in November this year.
MOSAIC

Mosaic Insurance has appointed Francesca Harland as its new Global Head of Professional Liability.
Harland, a leading underwriter in the unit since its inception, steps up to replace Anna Jay, who in July was named the company’s new Active Underwriter, Syndicate 1609. The move was part of a restructure of underwriting and operational teams to drive growth of Mosaic’s vital agency business.

ACQUIS

Gallagher has announced it has appointed Simon Collings as Chief Broking Officer, subject to regulatory approval. Simon will report to Michael Rea, Chief Executive Officer of Gallagher in the UK and will join its UK executive team.
Simon’s previous role was Managing Director of Gallagher’s national broking & placement team within its UK & Ireland Retail division. With over 30 years’ insurance experience, Simon joined Gallagher in 2017 as Market Management Director for UK Retail, prior to which he held several senior positions at Marsh, JLT and Miller in placement roles.
In this newly created executive role, Simon will lead and develop the broking strategy for Gallagher in the UK & Ireland, including its extensive Retail operations and its London-market Speciality division. Simon and his team will be responsible for working with insurers across the industry to ensure the best outcomes for clients.
GALLAGHER BASSETT
Gallagher Bassett, the UK’s leading claims and risk management provider, has appointed industry expert Jenni Pendrey as Chief Client Officer. Jenni joins the company with a unique perspective as a former client of Gallagher Bassett and extensive experience in the industry across claims and risk management roles in the transportation sector.
Jenni is set to drive improvements to Gallagher Bassett’s client journey utilising her deep understanding of the company and the broader industry.

YANMAR MARINE
YANMAR Marine International B.V., a subsidiary of Yanmar Holdings, is pleased to announce the appointment of Wouter-Jan van Der Wurff as Chief Executive Officer.
Prior to joining YANMAR Marine International, Van der Wurff served as the CEO of Cable Connectivity Group, headquartered in The Netherlands. During his tenure, Van der Wurff played a pivotal role in guiding the company through significant growth and transition, including its integration into Infinite Electronics Inc. in early 2023.
CHARLES TAYLOR
Charles Taylor, a leading global provider of claims solutions to insurance markets, has announced the appointment of Robert Paxton as the new Managing Director of its Canadian operations, effective October 1, 2024. Paxton will lead the company’s continued efforts to deliver high-quality, client-centered solutions throughout Canada.
In addition to these responsibilities, Paxton will continue to serve as Charles Taylor’s Global Head of Strategy and Business Development, bringing a more global dimension to his Canadian role.
Paxton has extensive experience in insurance adjusting, both in Canada and international markets. He has successfully held senior leadership positions within Charles Taylor and has a deep understanding of the company’s unique value proposition. Before joining Charles Taylor, Paxton worked at a leading Canadian law firm as well as a management consultant to global organizations, focused on corporate strategy, operational improvement, and innovation.
INSURANCE EUROPE
Insurance Europe, the European insurance and reinsurance federation, announced recently that Thea Utoft Høj Jensen has been appointed as its new director general.
Beazley, the leading specialty insurer, has announced Paul Bantick as Chief Underwriting Officer, following the decision by Bob Quane to retire. Mr Bantick will report to Adrian Cox, CEO of Beazley, the appointment is effective immediately.
Mr Bantick will continue to oversee Beazley’s Cyber Risks division while the process of appointing his successor is ongoing. With the market leading cyber risk expertise that Beazley has, it is expected that his replacement will be internal.
Bethany Greenwood is to become CEO of Beazley Furlonge Limited, Beazley’s Lloyd’s managing agency, subject to regulatory approval, and Chair of Beazley’s London Wholesale Management Committee, in addition to her current role as Group Head of Specialty Risks, the appointment is effective immediately.
Adrian Cox, CEO of Beazley said; “Paul is an outstanding insurance leader, he has driven the growth of our own cyber business and been a leader in the ongoing development and maturation of the marketplace. I want to thank Bob Quane for his contribution to Beazley, particularly for his focus on the development of our forward-looking view of climate risk, which has been key to the ongoing, profitable growth of our property business.
PEN UNDERWRITING

Pen Underwriting’s marine business specialist, Trafalgar Marine Trades (TMT), is continuing its investment in broker service capabilities and ready access to experienced, empowered underwriters with the appointment of Emma Colbourn. Emma will join as UK Senior Marine Trades Underwriter on Tuesday 8 October.
Bringing more than 25 years’ marine insurance experience and specialist knowledge, Emma joins from Geo Underwriting Services where she has been Marine Trade Underwriting Manager for the past four years. Prior to this, she carried out a similar role at KGM Underwriting Services. Emma will focus on the UK marine trades market, as part of a highly experienced underwriting team that looks after the risk and insurance requirements of marine businesses around the world.
Working closely with Pen’s dedicated business development team and broker clients, Emma will build out the book by providing flexible and bespoke solutions that meet the needs of marine trades be they boat builders, repairers, suppliers, equipment manufacturers, clubs or marinas. Her remit will also cover ongoing product development and systems development to further enhance the speed and efficiency of the customer journey.
