Simply Business Boost Competition – Deadline is This Week

There is still time – just – to enter the Simply Business Boost Competition, here’s the word;

Simply Business, a leading small business insurer, today announces the final call for entries to its annual Business Boost competition, after receiving entries from over 12,000 small business owners. Small business owners across the UK are encouraged to enter now for the chance to win a £25,000 grant to either get their business idea off the ground or grow their existing business.

Entries for the competition close on 15th October 2024. The winner will be announced on 13th December 2024.

The panel of expert judges includes renowned entrepreneur Timothy Armoo, Harpreet Kaur, winner of BBC’s Apprentice, and last year’s winner, Claire Marchais, owner of Fair-Well, an eco-friendly, low-waste wholefoods store and delivery service based in North London. Judges will be looking for compelling stories of trials, triumphs, and inspiration, as well as how the business contributes positively to society. Innovation and a well-thought-out plan for utilizing the prize money will also be key criteria.

Claire Marchais, owner of Fair-Well, comments: “It was an immense honour to receive the £25,000 Business Boost from Simply Business. The support has been invaluable to Fair-Well in the past six months, enabling us to grow our project significantly. We were able to hire additional staff to support our marketing efforts and repair and improve our delivery van, which has greatly increased our efficiency.”

Entrepreneur and small business champion Timothy Armoo adds: “As an entrepreneur, the first bit of cash you get is crucial. It’s the difference between your first breakthrough marketing campaign or hiring your first employee that can take you to the next level. What this competition enables someone to do is to shortcut that step and bring their future forward. I’m thrilled to be part of this and helping build the next big thing!”

Bea Montoya, UK COO at Simply Business, states: “Small businesses are built on big dreams, and we know finance plays a huge part in starting or growing a successful small business. It’s never been more important to support the self-employed, with the impact of the cost-of-living crisis making it a difficult environment for new and existing owners. We want to make a genuine transformational impact on one owner’s life. Small businesses play a vital role in our communities and contribute enormously to our economy. It only felt right to return with our £25,000 Business Boost grant for a fifth year, having witnessed its positive impact on four deserving small businesses in the previous years.”
