HDI GLOBAL
HDI Global UK and Ireland (HDI) has announced the appointment of Marcus Breese as Head of Cyber Underwriting, with effect from 1 April 2025.
Breese joins HDI from Arch Insurance International where he was Head of Cyber and Technology Errors & Omissions (E&O) for four years. Prior to joining Arch, he spent a year with cyber risk modelling firm Corax, a business he joined following 18 years at Hiscox. During his time with Hiscox, Breese held several roles specialising in technology and media E&O, as Line Underwriter.
Breese brings extensive experience in cyber and technology risk at a time when HDI is continuing its drive for long-term sustainable growth in the UK and Ireland. He will report to Antonia Osborne, Director of Underwriting, Corporate, HDI Global UK and Ireland.
ABERDEEN INVESTMENTS
Aberdeen Investments has appointed John McCareins as its new Chief Client Officer. He joins from Northern Trust Asset Management, where he was Executive Vice President and Head of International.
John will join Aberdeen in mid-June 2025 and will sit on Aberdeen’s Group Executive Leadership Team. He brings more than 25 years of institutional investment and advisory experience, with a proven track record of leading and growing high performing cross-functional teams across geographies and asset classes.
He most recently led Northern Trust Asset Management’s international business from London, including APAC and EMEA, and prior to that led its APAC business based in Hong Kong, having spent his early Northern Trust career in his home town of Chicago in the Multi-Manager Solutions Practice.

Argenta is pleased to announce the appointment of Inga Brand as Unit Head, Energy Liability, effective immediately. Based in London, she will report to Heath Callan, Divisional Head of Energy & Marine. Inga brings over 24 years of underwriting experience in UK and global markets.
In her new role, Inga will be responsible for managing and driving the growth of Argenta’s flagship Energy Liability portfolio, ensuring it aligns with the company’s long-term strategic vision. APOLLO
Apollo, the innovation inspired insurance platform, today announces the appointment of Mike Krefta as a non-executive director of Apollo Syndicate Management Limited (“ASML”), subject to regulatory approval.
Mike has more than 20 years’ experience in the insurance sector spanning both London and Bermuda. As CEO at Hiscox Re and ILS, he was responsible for driving strategy across Bermuda, London and Paris teams. Previously he served as chief underwriting officer at Hiscox Re. Most recently, he founded Meadow Consulting Limited, a (re)insurance consulting business advising multinational insurance companies and institutional investors on business strategy, risk management, product development, ILS and ESG practices.
ALLIANZ TRADE
Allianz Trade, the world leader in trade credit insurance, announces the appointment of Matt Williams as CEO for Allianz Trade in the UK & Ireland, effective 1 July 2025. Matt, who is currently Regional Credit Director for Allianz Trade in Northern Europe (NEUR), succeeds Sarah Murrow, who will become CEO of Allianz Trade in Americas as of 1 July 2025. Both appointments are subject to the standard regulatory approval requirements.
Sarah Murrow becomes CEO of Allianz Trade in Americas after more than 20 years with the business. She first joined Allianz Trade in North America in 2004 and held Client Service, Commercial Underwriting and Strategic Account Manager positions. She then assumed the Regional Head of Broker Management role in 2011. After 5 years, she was appointed as Global Head of Commercial Underwriting & Product Development, based in Paris. From 2017 to 2021, she served as Regional Head of Market Management, Commercial Underwriting & Distribution for Allianz Trade in Northern Europe, before moving to her current CEO position at Allianz Trade in the UK & Ireland in 2021.
TOKIO MARINE
Tokio Marine HCC (TMHCC) International, a member of the TMHCC group of companies based in Houston, Texas, has today announced the promotion of David Feldman from Head of International Compliance & Data Protection Officer, TMHCCI, to the role of Regional Head of Compliance, UK and Europe at Tokio Marine Group.
Effective from 1st April, David brings a wealth of experience to further enhance the Legal & Compliance function of Tokio Marine Group’s UK and European companies, leading Group-wide initiatives and strengthening inter-regional cooperation across the Group’s global teams.
ARCH
Arch Insurance International (Arch) today announced the appointment of James Barrett as Head of Cyber & Healthcare, effective immediately.
In this role, Barrett is responsible for leading the underwriting activities across both the Cyber and Healthcare portfolios, delivering on Arch’s strategic objectives for these key business lines and developing opportunities to strengthen and expand the company’s market presence. Based in London, he reports to Mike Lay, Chief Underwriting Officer, Long Tail Lines.
Barrett has been Interim Head of Cyber since October 2024 in addition to being Head of Healthcare since joining the company in 2018. He was previously a Senior Underwriter at Swiss Re Corporate Solutions and brings over 18 years of underwriting experience to the role.
DWF
DWF, the global provider of integrated legal and business services, has expanded its US Claims team with a series of key hires, further strengthening the business’ position in the US market and enhancing its global claims management and adjusting (CMA) offering.

ALLIANZ UK
Allianz UK has announced two appointments to its Commercial arm, covering Mid Corp, Fleet and Digital/SME. Adam Lloyd will join as the new chief underwriting officer and Claire Buck (ABOVE) as chief technical officer, a newly created role, both effective from 14 April.
They will report to Phuong Ly, the newly appointed Managing Director for Allianz Commercial in the UK, who starts on April 1. These appointments are subject to regulatory approval. Both Adam and Claire are internal appointments and reflect Allianz’s commitment to leveraging internal talent and global mobility.
Adam has a wealth of underwriting experience and over 15 years with Allianz Australia, holding roles in both underwriting and sales. Most recently Adam has been instrumental in shaping the portfolio strategy and underwriting governance.
CIGNA HEALTHCARE
Cigna Healthcare, International Health has appointed Rob Peat as Chief Executive Officer of Asia Pacific. Based in Hong Kong, Rob will oversee International Health’s operations in Hong Kong, Singapore, mainland China, and Australia, driving accelerated growth across this key region and identifying opportunities for greater leverage among markets.
Rob is an insurance industry leader and has been with Cigna Healthcare for 22 years. He first joined the organization as an actuarial expert, honing his experience in group insurance and global health benefits.
AQUEOUS UNDERWRITING
Aqueous Underwriting has promoted Dan Dorrell to the new role of Head of Property & Casualty as part of a move by the MGA, which specialises in the professional indemnity and SME package (food, hospitality, leisure, and hotel) sectors, to focus on new product development and innovation in response to rapidly changing market needs.
Dan, who was previously Trading & Distribution Manager at Aqueous, will lead a team focused on the creation of new, tailored P&C insurance products alongside the implementation of robust pricing strategies to ensure the MGA continues to meet evolving customer expectations and deliver strong financial performance. With a deep understanding of market dynamics, Dan will also be responsible for attracting and nurturing new talent, delivering operational excellence, and maintaining the MGA’s reputation for providing a superior service to its brokers.
CHL
CHL, the ultimate parent company of Conduit Re, a multi-line Bermuda-based reinsurance business, today announces that Trevor Carvey, CHL’s Chief Executive Officer, has notified the Board of CHL of his decision to step down as Chief Executive Officer and director and retire with effect from 11 April 2025. His retirement is a result of a change in personal circumstances requiring his return to the UK. Neil Eckert, Executive Chairman, will assume the responsibilities of interim Chief Executive Officer with immediate effect.
CHL has commenced a search to identify a new Chief Executive Officer.
