ALA Insurance Will Show Extra Support For Those Making a Claim

Car accident crash flipped upside down, road closed by police

An insurance claim can be super stressful, especially if the claimant was injured. Even seeing a car accident can be traumatising, and being involved even more so. The time is right for insurance brands to offer extra support to those who need because until you walk in someone else’s shoes, you don’t know what they are going through. Here’s the word;

In a move that puts compassion into action, Yorkshire-based ALA Insurance is offering free, confidential therapy to customers who’ve had to make a claim.

The initiative, run in partnership with mental health platform Spill, reflects ALA’s long-term commitment to supporting emotional wellbeing, not just during Mental Health Awareness Week (12th to 18th May 2025), but year-round.

Spill is a UK-based mental health provider known for its accessible, high-quality therapy. Their therapists are all BACP- or UKCP-accredited, and their platform makes it easy to speak with someone quickly, privately, and confidentially.

From the 12th of May, customers who make a claim from their GAP or Cycle insurance will receive a free therapy session with a qualified, accredited Spill therapist. All therapy costs will be covered entirely by ALA Insurance, with no impact on premiums.

The idea was born from real conversations between ALA’s customer care team and policyholders who were often shaken, distressed, or struggling emotionally after their claim experiences.

“I remember speaking with a young man who had just written off his car, he was panicked, bewildered, and said he just felt lucky to be alive,” says Katie Rollin at ALA Insurance. “It made me realise that we support customers financially, but what about emotionally? What about the trauma they carry afterwards?”

This new offering is an extension of ALA’s internal wellbeing strategy. The company has already been using Spill as a core part of its employee wellbeing programme.

“We didn’t want to stop at just helping our team, we wanted to offer the same level of care to our customers,” says Simon England, Founder and Managing Director of ALA Insurance. “Supporting people through difficult moments is the right thing to do. We’re proud to partner with Spill, who are as committed to mental health as we are to ethical insurance.”

A spokesperson from Spill says, “At Spill, we think it’s important that everyone has access to therapy. This is especially true after a traumatic event like being in a car accident or having your vehicle stolen. So we’re delighted that ALA is helping their users access our confidential professional therapy, and we hope that the support we’ll offer will help returning to normal be as smooth a process as possible.”

This new benefit is available immediately to ALA customers claiming on GAP or Cycle insurance policies.
