To mark the Year of the Sea, AXA Climate is launching the “Oceans: Call from The Deep” Course, a new educational module developed by the Climate School. This program is designed for anyone wishing to gain a clearer understanding of the ocean’s role in global climate balance and the pressures it faces, and to identify actionable solutions based on scientific research. .
This course is part of an ongoing effort to make science more accessible and to shed light on key challenges linked to marine biodiversity.
Understanding Ocean Vulnerability
Despite oceans covering over 70% of the Earth’s surface, their complex dynamics – and their increasing vulnerability to human activities – remain insufficiently understood. From acidification and rising temperatures to overexploitation and pollution, the pressures they face are growing and deeply interconnected. Recognizing the fragility of marine systems is a prerequisite to understanding why their preservation is essential to the long-term sustainability of human societies.
The Ocean Course was developed to respond to this need for structured and accessible knowledge. Based on scientifically validated sources, it offers a progressive learning path, divided into thematic chapters and supported by interactive tools such as short videos and quizzes. It is designed for a broad audience seeking to deepen their understanding of marine ecosystems through a clear and rigorous framework.

Presentation at UNOC 2025
The Ocean Course will be presented at the United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC), held in Nice from June 9 to 13, 2025. To accompany this international event, the course will be made freely accessible for one month, as a resource to support dialogue among institutions, local authorities, businesses, and civil society actors engaged in the protection and governance of marine environments.
