It’s time once more to round up the latest senior appointments news from the insurance world, let’s get into it;

SIGNICAT

 Signicat, Europe’s leading provider of digital identity solutions, announces the appointment of Sofia Busck as Country Manager Sweden. Sofia will be based in Stockholm and report to Joakim Harging, Chief Enterprise Nordics & UK at Signicat.

Sofia Busck has over a decade of leadership experience across commercial strategy, customer success, and operational growth in regulated and technology-driven sectors. Most recently, as Chief Revenue Officer at the sustainability data platform Worldfavor, she was responsible for commercial strategy and accelerating customer growth. Previously, Sofia held key roles at Klarna, where she specialised in market expansion and operational excellence, driving launches in multiple international markets.

HDI GLOBAL

HDI UK & Ireland (HDI) has announced the appointment of Tom Potter as Director of Liability with effect from 22 September 2025. In this position, he will lead HDI’s liability underwriting strategy with a focus on delivering profitable growth and technical excellence.

Potter joins from AXA XL, where he served as Global Casualty Underwriting Manager for UK & Lloyd’s sitting in the Global Chief Underwriting Office. In collaboration with regional portfolio leaders, he was responsible for assessing the core strategic direction and profitability of the UK & Lloyd’s casualty underwriting portfolios. In the last 15 years, Potter has held various underwriting roles across casualty, environmental, construction and property.

ACORD

Chris Newman has been appointed by the ACORD Board of Directors to lead ACORD Solutions Group (ASG) as Chief Executive Officer. ACORD Solutions Group provides the insurance industry with enterprise-class solutions to optimize the speed, cost, and accuracy of data exchange, connecting stakeholders regardless of geography, role, and legacy constraints. 

“Chris’s leadership, strategic vision, and proven track record make him exceptionally well suited to guide ASG through its next chapter,” said ACORD Board Chair Robert Kelly AM (Founder, Managing Director & CEO of Steadfast).

LMG

The London Market Group (LMG) is pleased to announce that Chris Lay, Chief Executive Officer, Marsh McLennan UK, will become its next Chair of the London Market Group, taking up the role on 1 January, 2026.  

Sean McGovern, Chief Executive of AXA XL Lloyd’s and London Market, will step down at the end of his three-year tenure in December. He will remain a member of the LMG Board.

Sean McGovern, outgoing Chair of the London Market Group said: “The last three years have seen the LMG make considerable strides in the areas of collective interest for which it advocates, energetically building on strong foundations particularly in our talent programmes and in government relations. I am delighted that Chris is taking on the Chair. He has a depth and breadth of experience in the London Market and an excellent understanding of our customers, as well as strongly established relationships with other business, City trade bodies and government departments. These relationships will be invaluable in continuing to build the work on which the LMG is focused”.

COVEA

Georges De Macedo who has served as CEO since June 2023, will be stepping down from the role and returning to his native France. Xavier Laurent from Covéa Group has been appointed as his successor, pending regulatory approvals.

 Xavier is a highly respected leader with a strong record of success in general insurance who aligns well with our company’s culture and values. Xavier brings extensive experience in strategic leadership and is well positioned to guide the UK business through its next phase of growth.

 Xavier has joined the Executive team and is working alongside Georges during a 3-month transition period to ensure a seamless handover and continuity. In the future, Georges will remain within the Group and continue supporting Covéa UK as a Board member providing strategic oversight for the UK business.

TL DALLAS

Leading independent insurance broking and risk management firm, TL Dallas, has appointed Caroline Pullich as Group Head of Private Clients, further strengthening the family firm’s expertise in delivering bespoke insurance and wealth protection services to high-net-worth individuals and families across the UK and Northern Ireland.

Caroline brings more than three decades of experience in financial services and insurance, having held senior roles at NatWest, Barclays, and NFU Mutual. She spent 21 years at NatWest, where she progressed through a variety of retail and corporate banking roles, ultimately leading teams of up to 750 colleagues. She then spent 10 years at Barclays, progressing to Head of SME for Yorkshire, working closely with entrepreneurs, family businesses, and regional organisations.

Most recently, Caroline was Managing Partner at NFU Mutual in Boston Spa, where she built a successful high-net-worth, bespoke insurance proposition. Over three years, she developed a portfolio of more than 80 private clients, providing tailored advice and support spanning both personal and commercial needs.

CANOPIUS

Canopius Group, a leading global specialty and P&C (re)insurer, is pleased to announce the appointment of Norm Kimber as Credit & Political Risk Underwriter, effective Q1 2026.

With over 30 years of experience across insurance and the public sector, Norm has played a pivotal role in facilitating trade, investment and development in emerging markets. He has built a distinguished career providing insurance solutions that address the credit and political risk mitigation needs of banks, investors and public agencies.

He joins Canopius from Swiss Re, where he has led the Sovereign Credit and Political Risk insurance team across the EMEA region since April 2021. Prior to this, Norm held several senior underwriting roles at Swiss Re, Zurich Insurance Group, African Trade Insurance Agency, the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency and Export Development Canada.

AFRICA SPECIALTY

Africa Specialty Risks (“ASR”), the developing markets focused (re)insurance group, announces the appointment of Phillip Murphy as Medical Malpractice Senior Underwriter. Based in London, he will report to Martin Boreham, Active Underwriter & Director of Underwriting. Phillip will be responsible for broadening the medical malpractice underwriting line, which is currently offered within a suite of liability solutions. This will include increase geographic coverage and expanding broker connections throughout Africa and developing markets.

He joins ASR with over 20 years of Medical Malpractice insurance experience, having worked with some of the largest institutional healthcare providers including physician groups and long-term care providers.

PRÆSIDIAD,

The parent company of Betafence and Hesco, recently announced the appointment of Benjamin Neumann as Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately.

PRÆSIDIAD Appoints Benjamin Neumann as Chief Executive Officer

Benjamin brings extensive international leadership experience across the energy, power, and technology sectors. Most recently, he served as CEO at Chloride, a privately held international leader in Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems for energy and infrastructure.

This position followed his tenure as CEO of Gutor, a heavy industrial UPS business where he successfully led the company’s turnaround and sale to a private equity fund. Before this, Benjamin was Regional President of Schneider Electric’s Power Systems division in Asia Pacific, having previously served as Global CFO of Schneider Electric’s Energy Automation business.

OPEN GI

Danielle Blackmore has been appointed as Director of Customer success at Open GI, effective immediately.

The newly-created role will see Blackmore take responsibility for ensuring customers get the most from their Open GI solutions, act as the voice of the customer, and ensure all clients feel supported and heard when it comes to what they require from a specialist technology partner.

L&G

L&G has announced the appointment of Cecilia Furner to the enhanced role of Distribution Director of Retail Retirement, leading Home Finance’s distribution team alongside Retail Annuities’.

In her newly created role, Cecilia will help drive more integration across the Retail Retirement teams, with responsibility for developing sales and business strategies to support growth and provide market-leading services. Cecilia, who joined L&G in 2018, has 25 years of experience in financial services, including senior roles across business development, strategic partnerships and distribution.

The change is being made as the current Distribution Director of Home Finance, David G Jones, retires after more than four decades in the industry, including 38 years at L&G. David has held a range of senior positions within L&G, including seven years as Sales Director of its Retail Protection business. During his time at L&G, David has championed the use of data and insight to drive performance.

MANAGEMENT LIABILITY EUROPE

Amiga Specialty has appointed James Rasmussen as Managing Director, Management Liability UK & Europe, effective immediately.

Based in London and reporting to Group Managing Director & Founder, Adam Kembrooke, Rasmussen will focus on establishing the product line, setting strategic positioning and working with Amiga’s capacity partners to provide a best-in-class service and product offering to its brokers.

SUN LIFE

Sun Life Financial Inc. (“Sun Life”) (TSX: SLF) (NYSE: SLF) today announced the appointment of Sujoy Ghosh as Chief Executive Officer, High Net Worth, effective November 4. Sujoy will lead Sun Life’s global High Net Worth (HNW) business, with operations in Hong Kong, Singapore and Bermuda, deepening partnerships and enhancing capabilities to strengthen Sun Life’s position as an established market leader in HNW insurance.

Sujoy brings 27 years’ experience in leadership roles spanning insurance and banking across Asia, the Middle East and Europe. He joins Sun Life from Citi, where he was most recently Head of Global Insurance & Asia Head, Business Development – Citi Wealth, responsible for the bank’s global insurance operations and business development in Asia. Prior to joining Citi, Sujoy was the Regional Head of Bancassurance for Allianz in Asia Pacific, responsible for establishing and managing commercial and strategic partnerships across Life and General Insurance in Asia Pacific. 

DAVIES 

 Davies, the leading specialist professional services and technology business, is pleased to announce the appointment of Adam Warwick as Group Chief Information Officer.

Adam joins from global software solutions provider, Bravura, where he served as Group Chief Technology and Product Officer. He brings over 25 years of experience in technology leadership across the insurance and wealth management sectors, including CIO roles with Aviva and Zurich.

Joining Davies on 6 October, Adam will be responsible for driving Davies’ global technology strategy, including software development, cloud infrastructure, data and AI investment. He will lead Davies’ senior technology leadership team which includes Group Chief AI Officer, Paul O’Brien, recently appointed Group Chief Product Officer, John Salt, and the firm’s Enterprise Chief Information Officer, Darren Martin. Adam will report to Group CEO, Dan Saulter and will join the firm’s Group Executive Committee.

INSHUR

 INSHUR, the award-winning insurance platform for the on-demand economy, has appointed Guy Farley, co-founder and former CTO of ManyPets, to its UK Board of Advisors.
Farley, named multiple times as one of Computer Weekly’s Top 100 Most Influential People in UK Technology, brings deep experience in building and scaling insurtech businesses. At INSHUR, he will help advise and validate the company’s technology roadmap, with its focus on AI and the fast-emerging autonomous vehicle (AV) market.

AIG

European boutique Managing General Agent (MGA) Alta Signa B.V. (“Alta Signa”) has appointed Cédric Denysiak as Country Manager, France, effective 1 October 2025. The move underscores Alta Signa’s ambitions to continue to grow sustainably across specialty lines in one of Europe’s most dynamic markets.

Cédric brings more than two decades of experience in financial lines and specialty insurance, coupled with a strong track record in relationship management with global brokers and large clients. He joins from WTW, Paris, where he was Client Executive for Large Accounts. Before that, he was Global Brokers Relationship Manager at AIG.

SYNTHETIK
Synthetik has announced the appointment of Matt Harris as Global Head of Partnerships and Distribution.
Matt has held numerous senior leadership positions across the insurance industry, with a notable focus on sustainable growth. His previous roles include Group Head of International Operations at Argo Group, Asia Pacific CEO at AIG, as well as extensive experience with AIG and IAG across the Asia Pacific region. He has also operated as a consultant to leading businesses in the insurance markets focusing particularly on M&A and efficiency optimization and performance.
KEEPIT

 Keepit, the market leader in SaaS data protection, recovery and cyber resilience, has announced the appointment of Jan Ursi as Vice President of Global Channel. With extensive experience in building high-impact partner ecosystems, Ursi will lead Keepit’s global partner strategy to meet accelerating market demand for SaaS data backup and recovery.

Ursi brings a proven track record of scaling technology businesses through strong partner networks. He has led partner and alliance initiatives at Rubrik, UiPath, Nutanix, and Infoblox, and earlier helped expand NetScreen and Juniper in Europe. Beginning his career at Alcatel-Lucent, Ursi has consistently been at the forefront of introducing disruptive technologies to new markets, from networking, enterprise cloud and hyperautomation to cyber resilience.

NORTHSTANDARD

NorthStandard has appointed Matt Holmes and Andrew Carter to lead its newly created Upstream Energy and Marine & Energy Liability sectors, expanding the global insurer’s specialty portfolio into significant adjacent markets.

Holmes and Carter join from Dale Underwriting Partners on 29 September, bringing decades of expertise in energy and complex liability risks. Holmes will head NorthStandard’s Upstream Energy sector, with Carter leading Marine & Energy Liability and reporting directly to Holmes. Both will work closely with NorthStandard’s market-leading Offshore & Renewables P&I team, led by John Croucher, to deliver integrated marine and energy solutions for Members and brokers.
