This public evidence session will be held in Committee Room 1 of the House of Lords and streamed live and on demand on Parliament TV.
This session is part of the committee’s inquiry into the regulation of the UK’s consumer insurance market. Topics the committee is likely to cover in this session include:
- Key concerns witnesses have regarding the regulation of consumer home and travel insurance.
- Why the Which? super-complaint was particularly focused on home and travel insurance.
- How the FCA and the insurance industry has responded to the super complaint.
- The extent to which regulation can improve consumer understanding of insurance products.
- The impact of the Consumer Duty on the insurance market.
- How new technologies could help consumers, particularly in relation to consumer understanding of complex insurance products.

The Financial Services Regulation Committee was created in early 2024 following the passing of the Financial Services and Markets Act 2023 which established a new framework for the regulation of financial services in the United Kingdom
The committee is chaired by The Baroness Noakes DBE.
