Some news from Best Insurance, who are offering various product lines for UK armed forces veterans;
Insurance specialist Best Insurance has launched a new proposition to offer discounted products to members of the armed service veterans’ platform, weServed. The insurance products will be delivered through Best’s AI-driven Excitare.ai platform. The six insurance launch products are:
· Accident insurance
· Sickness insurance
· Unemployment insurance
· Pet insurance
· Gadget insurance
· Home contents insurance
The products are offered on a standalone or combined basis, so accident insurance, sickness insurance and unemployment insurance can be combined into ASU. The advanced AI and machine learning capabilities of the Excitare.ai platform will allow bespoke products and services to be developed for the specific needs of the weServed community.
There are an estimated two million veterans in the UK and health and wellbeing can be a challenge for those who have previously served in the armed forces. Mental health and musculoskeletal injuries often remain key post‑service issues, with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) affecting around one in 10 veterans, rising to 18% for those in combat roles.
This is much higher than the rates among the general population (4%), yet access to insurance for those who need it can be difficult. Pre‑existing conditions such as PTSD and mental health disclosures, chronic pain or surgeries can lead to exclusions or premium loadings leaving many veterans without cover.
Kesh Thukaram co-founder at Best Insurance, said: “People who have served in the armed forces can sometimes have specific and unique requirements that are not catered for by the standard policies available in the market.
“Best Insurance aims to bridge this gap by partnering with weServed to ensure that men and women who have served the country have access to comprehensive cover offering competitive and bespoke pricing that caters to their lifestyle when they retire from the armed forces and join civilian life.”
