The latest from Lumara for you;
Lumara Insurance (Lumara), a new MGA specialising in Business Insurance and Motor Trade Combined insurance for UK brokers has gone live recently. Founded by industry experts David Aslin and Mark Greig, and supported by Mission, Lumara combines the best of human judgement and modern technology to offer a highly accessible, relationship-driven alternative to traditional insurance solutions.
Lumara offers a commercial combined insurance solution for UK businesses, across a broad spectrum of industry trade sectors, with bespoke and enhanced coverage options. Its motor trade combined insurance solution will be available via the Acturis platform, making it easy for brokers to connect and streamlining the policymaking journey. Brokers can expect direct access to experienced underwriters, proactive renewal management, and tailored solutions that go beyond generic wordings, all delivered with speed and agility.
Targeting business in the £3,000–£30,000 premium range and with the flexibility to write significantly larger risks across the mid-market sector, Lumara enters the UK market at a time when brokers are increasingly frustrated with service that is hindered by legacy systems and impersonal, rules-based responses.
Lumara serves UK-based SME to mid-market enterprises, across a wide risk appetite, with up to £35M total sum insured per location for Property Damage and Business Interruption, backed by A- rated insurers with a five-year rolling capacity commitment. Operating on a Statement of Fact basis with no proposal forms, the end-to-end solution provides Legal Expenses and Engineering Breakdown coverage, proactive risk management services, and helpline access for Legal and UK tax advice, with expanding solutions to follow.
David Aslin, CEO and Co-founder of Lumara, said: “Having listened to brokers in the regional market we’ve built Lumara to give brokers genuine choice, combining the efficiency of automated platforms and data with access to real underwriting expertise. Mark and I bring many decades of regional insurance experience, and with Mission behind us, we can concentrate on delivering fast decisions, real conversations, and tailored policies for all types of commercial risks.”
Mark Greig, Underwriting Manager and Co-founder of Lumara, added: “Technology and Data are powerful tools, but should support – not replace – human expertise. We serve brokers who want genuine underwriting expertise, relationship-driven service, and tailored mid-market solutions.”
David and Mark are supported by Nick Hall, Lead Underwriter, who will be responsible for managing Lumara’s initial business development relationships. With almost four decades of experience spanning broking and insurance, Nick brings deep technical expertise and commercial insight to his role.
