Predictions 2026: Automated Workflows Could Free Up More Time

As part of IE’s Predictions 2026 series, here are some thoughts on automated workflows and how brokers can improve efficiency and free up valuable time for other tasks;

Martyn Mathews, MD, SSP Broker says:

“There seems little doubt that while inflation is steadying, the cost of doing business along with the cost of living is impacting insurance affordability. In an environment where decisions are based purely on price, the risk is that policies are chosen without understanding cover limits, leading to disappointment and eroding trust.

In 2026, brokers can counter this by using automated workflows on cloud-based software house platforms to manage customers, track policy renewals, and process claims with greater efficiency, security, and scalability while improving the customer experience.

Automation enables instant comparison of multiple products, cover differences, and flags for exclusions, gaps, or add-ons. Customers can be guided toward products that genuinely fit their needs, restoring confidence in the buying process. Also, by automating many of the tasks that brokers typically perform manually, they save time and improve productivity.

AI will of course, also have a bigger part to play in automation in 2026. AI enabled self-service functionality, AI driven pricing capabilities, AI-driven policy summarisation will all further help brokers improve efficiency and explain key details quickly and consistently, reinforcing the broker’s advocacy role.

With big leadership changes at the FCA, we could see a reshaping of Consumer Duty enforcement in 2026, but fundamentally, insurance providers must still evidence fair value, improve claims outcomes and justify pricing. By leveraging their broker software house to automate advice, clarity, and service, brokers can demonstrate why this model remains essential: matching the right risks to the right products while putting transparency, fairness, and trust at the centre of every customer interaction.”
