Targa Telematics Launches Vehicle Delivery Product

So many modern cars are delivered direct to the customer, rather than being collected from showrooms. That means there are a set of risks associated with the process, whether the car is being driven, or trailered. This new solution aims to cover those bases, here’s the word;

Targa Telematics, one of the world’s leading players in AIoT (Artificial Intelligence of Things) for the development of digital solutions and platforms for connected mobility, announces the launch of Vehicle Delivery Monitoring, an innovative solution based on Agentic AI designed to optimise the vehicle delivery process for leasing companies.

Consisting of different software modules equipped with Agentic AI capabilities, Vehicle Delivery Monitoring enhances visibility, control and measurability across all stages of the process, from OEM production and transport to preparation at the delivery centre. It effectively addresses the challenges arising from the outsourcing of key services to third parties such as brokers and logistics companies – a common practice in the UK – and from a fragmented stakeholder ecosystem, which can in turn impact service level, customer experience and operational efficiency.

While traditional workflow management relies on several administrative steps and non-real-time data, often resulting in inefficiencies, delays and additional costs, Targa Telematics’ solution leverages reliable and dynamic data to streamline each delivery phase. The system integrates data from rental companies with information collected from in-vehicle devices. Capitalising on Agentic AI, it can identify the status of the vehicle – be it at the manufacturer, in transit, at the delivery centre or already in operation – and signal any inconsistencies against the reported workflow.

By promptly sending alerts on potential anomalies – such as delivery to an incorrect centre; vehicles still in delivery but recorded as in operation; delays in compliance activities, washing or telematics installation; or issues in sharing the documentation required for contract activation – Vehicle Delivery Monitoring enables leasing companies to intervene in a timely and targeted manner, shifting from self-reported processes to a fully data-driven approach.

“As the UK mobility ecosystem becomes increasingly complex and fragmented, it is critical for leasing companies to leverage advanced solutions that enable a smarter, more efficient and cost-effective management of the vehicle delivery process”, said Chris Horbowyj, UK Commercial Director at Targa Telematics. “Vehicle Delivery Monitoring, our latest, cutting-edge, solution aims to support leasing companies in navigating this evolving landscape, unlocking the power of Agentic AI and real-time data to elevate the quality of the services offered and customer satisfaction. Once again, our services show how telematics can play a pivotal role in shaping operators’ business models.”

Not only is Vehicle Delivery Monitoring designed to evolve over time through the introduction of new features, such as predictive models that forecast monthly contract activations based on historical performance data from each delivery centre, but it also addresses key pain points for leasing companies across multiple markets.

A recent study involving over 120 Italian mobility operators conducted by research institute Centro Studi Fleet&Mobility and promoted by Targa Telematics and Escargo, a company dedicated to dealers and rental providers, found that the increasing use of intermediaries – and the resulting loss of a direct relationship between leasing companies and drivers – is creating significant challenges and grey areas. 61% of respondents stated that understanding of customer needs has declined. According to most respondents, alignment between services and customer needs as well as perceived service quality have also worsened.

Vehicle Delivery Monitoring, which seamlessly integrates with leasing companies’ management systems, aims to tackle these issues, reducing delays and inefficiencies at delivery centres and facilitating faster contract activation through enhanced visibility of vehicle status. Additionally, the new solution mitigates insurance risks by preventing uncovered vehicles from circulating, optimises costs and automates critical activities, including reminders and document checks.
