Singapore Market: Zurich is Supporting 2026 FinTech Hackcelerator Challenge

The latest from Zurich;

Zurich Insurance (“Zurich”) is supporting the 2026 Global FinTech Hackcelerator as a Corporate Champion, challenging innovators to develop AI-enabled solutions that help Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) better understand their risks and make more informed protection decisions.

Organised by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) in partnership with the Global Finance & Technology Network (GFTN), the Global FinTech Hackcelerator, now in its 11th edition, is held as part of the Singapore FinTech Festival. This year’s programme, invites innovators from around the world to address challenges facing the financial services industry.

As one of the Corporate Champions, Zurich has contributed a problem statement focused on closing the protection gap faced by SMEs. Many SMEs remain underinsured against risks such as cyber-attacks, supply-chain disruption and asset damage, with gaps in their coverage often going unnoticed until a loss occurs. As businesses grow and their risk profiles change, these gaps can widen over time.

Zurich is calling on innovators to explore how AI can help provide SMEs with a clear, real-time view of their risk exposure and existing coverage, identify potential gaps, and guide them towards suitable protection at each stage of their growth.

Matthew Reilly, Chief Operating Officer, Asia Pacific, Zurich Insurance, said: “SMEs are the backbone of economies across Asia Pacific, yet many remain exposed to increasingly complex and interconnected risks. Closing this protection gap requires us to make risk easier to understand and insurance more accessible and relevant to the way SMEs operate and grow. Through the Global FinTech Hackcelerator, we look forward to working with innovators to explore practical, scalable uses of AI that can help businesses identify their exposures earlier, make more informed protection decisions and build greater resilience.”

Up to 20 finalists across three problem statements will be shortlisted. Each finalist will receive a SGD20,000 stipend and work directly with a Corporate Champion and industry mentors to refine their solution. Finalists will present at Demo Day on 18 November 2026, held as part of the Singapore FinTech Festival from 18 to 20 November 2026. Each Corporate Champion may subsequently select a finalist for a potential pilot, subject to mutual interest and agreement.
