New Services From Northdoor

The latest new services from Northdoor;

Northdoor plc, the independent London IT consultancy, has launched three new managed services: Azure Cloud Management, Microsoft 365 Management and Optimisation, and Modern Workplace Managed Services. They join the firm’s existing managed services portfolio, which covers infrastructure, security, data analytics and AI readiness.

The timing reflects pressure building on IT budgets from several directions at once. Microsoft prices have risen 25 to 40% over three years, with a further increase that took effect on 1 July 2026. An estimated 29% of Microsoft 365 licences sit unused, and the average organisation wastes close to a third of its cloud spend on over-provisioned or idle resources. At the same time, VMware renewals are arriving at multiples of last year’s cost and SQL Server 2016 is now out of support, forcing migration decisions many organisations had not planned for.

Behind the cost pressure sits a capacity problem. Most in-house IT teams number between one and five people, covering the service desk, endpoints, identity, security and governance at the same time. Northdoor argues the answer is capacity and accountability, not more technology.

Martin Summerhayes, Head of Managed Services at Northdoor, said: “Most of the organisations we meet are not short of technology. They are short of the people and hours to run it properly. An IT team of three is now expected to cover the service desk, security, licensing and every device the business owns, while the bills go up around them. These services take that load on.

“The July price rise also changes the maths on waste. When nearly a third of licences sit unused, paying more for seats nobody touches is real money. In most cases the licensing review alone pays for the service.”

The three new services:

• Azure Cloud Management takes control of cost and risk in the Azure estate. It is built around a FinOps programme that recovers waste through rightsizing, reservations and anomaly alerting rather than just reporting it, with governed Landing Zones, managed backup and tested disaster recovery.

• Microsoft 365 Management and Optimisation runs the Microsoft 365 estate to a defined standard: a managed Secure Score with a monthly improvement roadmap, governed identity and data protection, Intune-managed endpoints, and a licensing review that typically pays for the service. It also confirms whether an environment is ready for Copilot.

• Modern Workplace Managed Services is co-managed IT that supplements in-house teams rather than replacing them. It consolidates overlapping vendors into one accountable partner, provides a Level 1 and Level 2 service desk on defined SLAs, and runs Copilot adoption as a managed programme.

Every engagement starts with a free assessment, showing an organisation in pounds what it is wasting and where its gaps are before any commitment is made. The model draws on Northdoor’s existing managed services track record: corporate services provider Ocorian cut associated costs by around 20% after moving its SQL Server estate to a Northdoor managed service, and Northdoor has run the digital workplace for the Salvation Army for more than seven years across 700-plus UK locations.
