It’s a red letter day for the MGAA as membership continues to expand;
The Managing General Agents’ Association (MGAA) has reached a landmark milestone after welcoming Pinpoint UK as its 500th member, marking another significant chapter in the association’s growth and underlining the increasing importance of the delegated authority sector within the UK insurance market.
Since its formation in 2011, the MGAA has grown from representing a small number of pioneering MGAs into the recognised voice of the delegated authority market. Today, it supports a thriving community of managing general agents, insurers and specialist service providers, championing the sector through advocacy, collaboration and professional excellence.
As its membership has grown, so too has the breadth of support the association provides. Over recent years, the MGAA has significantly expanded its learning and development programmes, strengthened its engagement with regulators including the FCA and Lloyd’s, and developed a comprehensive programme of conferences, networking events and technical forums. It has also fostered stronger relationships between MGAs, capacity providers and specialist service providers, creating a collaborative ecosystem that helps members navigate change, share best practice and drive the continued success of the delegated authority market.
The milestone reflects not only the MGAA’s own evolution, but also the continued importance of MGAs across the insurance sector. As carriers increasingly seek specialist underwriting expertise, product innovation and greater agility, the delegated authority model continues to go from strength to strength, with the MGAA playing a central role in supporting the professionalism, standards and sustainable growth of the market.
Pinpoint UK, the association’s 500th member, specialises in niche specialty insurance products, with current lines of business focused on Tailored Solutions and UK Enterprises. The business partners with Lloyd’s syndicates, MGAs and brokers to develop well-diversified portfolios across specialist areas of the UK insurance market. As a Lloyd’s Coverholder and FCA-approved intermediary, Pinpoint UK combines specialist underwriting expertise with advanced technology to deliver flexible, market-responsive underwriting solutions.
Joining the MGAA represents an important step in the company’s continued growth strategy. Over the next 12 months, Pinpoint UK plans to expand its specialist product offering, deepen relationships with Lloyd’s syndicates, MGAs and brokers, and continue building well-diversified portfolios through disciplined, sustainable growth.
Mike Keating, CEO of the MGAA, commented: “I’m delighted to welcome Pinpoint as the MGAA’s 500th members, a significant milestone for the association, its member community and the MGA sector overall. Pinpoint, as a growing MGA, epitomises exactly what we, here at the MGAA, strive to deliver for our members every day. Many congratulations to Darren and his team, and we look forward to working alongside them, and all our other valued members.”
Darren Powell, CEO of Pinpoint UK, added: “It is a real privilege for Pinpoint UK to join the MGAA as its 500th member. This auspicious milestone reflects the continued strength and growth of the MGA market, and we are proud to become part of the community at such an exciting point in its development.
“Joining the MGAA was a natural step for Pinpoint UK as we continue to grow within the UK MGA market. The association provides a valuable platform to connect with peers, engage with industry developments and contribute to the continued growth and professionalism of the MGA sector. We look forward to building meaningful relationships across the MGA community, gaining valuable market insight and supporting the continued development of innovative, well-structured solutions across the sector.
“Our ambition over the next 12 months is to expand our specialist product offering, strengthen our partnerships with Lloyd’s syndicates, MGAs and brokers, and continue building diversified portfolios through measured, sustainable growth. We are excited to be part of the MGAA community as we continue that journey.”
The MGAA now represents a diverse membership spanning MGAs, insurers and specialist service providers, providing a unified voice for the delegated authority sector while supporting members through education, market engagement, technical guidance and industry collaboration. Reaching the 500-member milestone reinforces the association’s position at the heart of one of the insurance industry’s most dynamic and fastest-growing sectors.
