RockRose Risk Secures $12.5m Series A Round

The latest funding news from RockRose Risk;

RockRose Risk, the insurance brokerage giving property owners discounts for wildfire mitigation, has announced it has raised a $12.5 million Series A led by Crosslink Capital, with participation from Congruent Ventures and Nuveen, one of the world’s largest investment managers with significant commercial real estate holdings.

The funding will support RockRose Risk’s next phase of growth by expanding its engineering and operations teams, investing further in its AI platform and automation technology, and accelerating its evolution into a vertically integrated risk manager. As part of that strategy, RockRose Risk plans to acquire complementary businesses, including tree trimming and roofing companies, so property owners can work with a single partner to assess wildfire risk, complete mitigation work, and secure insurance. By bringing those services together, the company is reinventing how insurance works while lowering the overall cost of protecting property.

RockRose Risk currently serves commercial property owners and homeowners across wildfire-prone regions, including HOAs, hotel groups, wineries, farms, strip malls, municipalities, and commercial real estate portfolios throughout California, Colorado, and Nevada. The company is evolving into a vertically integrated risk manager, combining autonomous property analysis, mitigation services, and insurance into a single platform that helps property owners reduce both wildfire risk and insurance costs.

“We’ve reached the point where we’ve proven the model works,” said Andrew Engler, co-founder and CEO of RockRose Risk. “We’ve demonstrated that combining on-the-ground property assessments, mitigation expertise, and proprietary technology leads to fundamentally better insurance outcomes. This investment allows us to accelerate our growth, continue building the technology that powers our platform, and reinvent how property owners manage wildfire risk by bringing assessment, mitigation, and insurance together under one roof.”

The raise comes as California’s insurance market reaches a critical inflection point. The California FAIR Plan, the state’s insurer of last resort, continues to face mounting pressure as major carriers reduce their exposure in wildfire-prone regions, leaving homeowners and commercial property owners with fewer private market options. RockRose Risk’s mitigation-first model is designed to help move properties back into the admitted market by pairing verified mitigation work with detailed property-level risk assessments.

The new capital reflects growing investor confidence in a model that has delivered average premium reductions of 35% for commercial clients in markets where many property owners struggle to secure coverage at all. RockRose Risk has worked with more than $7 billion in total insurable value since its founding, building carrier relationships, proprietary technology, and a mitigation partner network designed to make insurance more accessible in catastrophe-exposed regions.

“Wildfire has fundamentally fractured insurance markets, creating a widespread availability and pricing crisis,” said Eliza Cushman, Partner at Congruent Ventures. “RockRose has built the AI-native brokerage that ties insurance outcomes directly to property mitigation, so that homes can get more resilient and more insurable. The platform combines deep insurance expertise with a technology stack capable of changing how wildfire is assessed, addressed, and underwritten. We’re thrilled to co-lead the Series A and support the company’s rapid growth.”

The funding follows the company’s recent expansion into California homeowners insurance, marking RockRose Risk’s first entry into the residential market after building a proven commercial business across California, Colorado, and Nevada, as well as the introduction of Rosebud™, the company’s autonomous property assessment rover. Together, these milestones position RockRose Risk to expand beyond the traditional insurance brokerage model and build a fully integrated platform for managing wildfire risk.
