Some key appointments news from Talanx Group Retail Division;
The Retail International Division of the Talanx Group prepares for the future with leadership changes. At his own request, Oliver Schmid will retire on 30 November 2026 after more than 22 years with the Talanx Group, including 16 years as Chief Financial Officer of HDI International AG, and will step down from the Board of Management of HDI International AG. From 1 December 2026, he will be succeeded by Dr Martin Weldi, currently Head of Group Corporate Development at Talanx AG.

He initially drove the development of our Group Controlling function and, since 2010, has played a key role in shaping HDI International’s highly successful, profitable growth path as Chief Financial Officer, with his extensive expertise in finance and risk management. With his open and approachable personality he has also helped to shape our decentralised corporate culture. I wish him all the very best for his personal future,” says Torsten Leue, Chairman of the Board of Management of Talanx AG and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of HDI International AG.
His successor, Dr Martin Weldi (48), will take care of the further expansion of HDI International and the continued, ongoing professionalisation of the Division’s finance and risk functions. Martin Weldi has held senior positions in the Talanx Group for more than 10 years. He initially headed the Motor Claims unit of HDI Germany and HDI Global in Germany and then, in 2018, took over as Head of Group Corporate Development at Talanx AG, with responsibility for Group strategy and the areas of M&A, Investor Relations, Sustainability and, most recently, Group Communications.
In addition, he was a member of the Supervisory Board of HDI International AG from 2018 to 2025 and has been Chief Financial Officer of HDI AG since 2025. Before joining the Talanx Group, he gained many years of experience in the insurance sector at a top management consultancy. Martin Weldi holds a doctorate in economics and business administration and has worked in Bamberg, Chicago and Frankfurt.
