Liberty Specialty Markets (LSM), part of Liberty Mutual Insurance, has promoted Joanna Hitchcock to the newly-created role of Paris-based Terrorism Underwriter.
The move is part of LSM’s plan to grow its European Terrorism account. Although based in Paris, Hitchcock will circulate among LSM’s European offices, meeting brokers and attending industry events.
Paul Beattie, LSM’s Underwriting Manager – War & Terrorism, said: “We’ve been writing Terrorism very successfully for many years from London, but have been experiencing increasing demand from Europe. With our plans to grow our European business, this was the right time to create a new role based in Paris to service that demand and build stronger relations across the continent.
“Joanna has been with us for approaching four years and has made a very positive impact on our business. Her knowledge and expertise will be a considerable asset to our European business.”
Liberty has also begun underwriting Fine Art and Specie in France, with the appointment of Stéphanie de Montricher as Senior Underwriter – Fine Art & Specie.
Based in LSM’s Paris office, Stéphanie reports to David Saillen, Head of Fine Arts & Specie for Continental Europe and also Didier Robin, Vice President, Head of Property and Specialties in Paris.
Stéphanie will develop new business and bespoke solutions for a wide range of clients in France.
Kadidja Sinz, LSM’s Head of Europe, said: “Stéphanie’s appointment signals that our growth plans for Europe are well advanced. Her arrival in Paris opens up new avenues for our French team and will lead to the development of many great partnerships in this market. Her established reputation and credentials in Fine Art and Specie are valuable assets to Liberty and our ambitions in this sector.”
Stéphanie has over seven years’ experience in the insurance sector as an underwriter. She joins LSM from Hiscox, where she was responsible for Fine Art product development. Prior to this, she worked for the legal department of international auction house Sotheby’s. Stéphanie holds a master’s degree in art history and law.
