Specialist loss adjuster, QuestGates, has engaged with Mental Health First Aid England (MHFA) to roll out mental health skills and awareness training for all its line managers throughout the UK.
Mental Health First Aid England is the largest provider of Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training in the UK and Europe, with over ten years of experience supporting businesses to create and sustain healthier workplaces.
The course is designed to teach managers to spot the signs of mental health issues, offer initial help and guide a person towards support as well as listen, reassure and respond.
QuestGates has also extended a number of places to its clients in the sessions taking place at its Bolton and Birmingham offices.
Commenting on this training initiative, QuestGates Managing Director, Chris Hall, says:
“We all have a duty to work towards removing the stigma that still surrounds the issue of mental health, and that starts in the workplace. We want our people to feel confident that should they have a mental health issue, they know that their line managers are equipped and ready to help them as best they can. This essential training will ensure that more of our team have the awareness and skills they need to better support their own and others’ mental health.”
This follows on from previous training organised by QuestGates in conjunction with MHFA to create a team of mental health first-aiders to support its team of people in its 14 locations around the UK. Feedback from the staff who attended this course was that it highlighted the variety of problems that can impact on an individual’s mental health and the importance of knowing that help is there, as well as providing this newly formed team of mental health first aiders with tools to support their colleagues whether as a sounding board or how to seek professional assistance.
Championed by Joanne Birchall, head of the concierge team at QuestGates, the roll-out of this training has the full backing of the QuestGates senior team who will themselves be taking part. She says:
