CalAmp (Nasdaq: CAMP), a global technology solutions pioneer transforming the mobile connected economy, today announced it is merging the remaining assets of SmartDriverClub Group (“SmartDriverClub”), the U.K.-based driver behavior data specialists into CalAmp’s Tracker UK operations. The combination of SmartDriverClub assets with Tracker expands on a subscriber-based, connected car go to market platform with reach into insurance and dealership marketplaces worldwide through Tracker and LoJack Global operations.
Tracker, a CalAmp subsidiary and stolen vehicle recovery and technology expert, will integrate SmartDriverClub’s driver behavior, risk scoring and data analytics to extend its insurance telematics offerings. Tracker is combining its telematics capabilities with the insurance knowledge, experience, relationships and systems of SmartDriverClub to deliver more intelligent connected car services to the U.K. market.
“The addition of SmartDriverClub capabilities will make us one of the leading suppliers of telematics data services to both the automotive and insurance markets,” said Mark Rose, managing director of Tracker. “Our combined offering increases the breadth of our technology, which I am confident will benefit our existing customers, and help drive our future growth strategy.”
“I am excited for the new opportunities this will bring for our team, our clients and the industry as a whole,” said Penny Searles, CEO of SmartDriverClub. “Tracker has a strong and recognised brand, with the scale, technical resources and market knowledge to expand what SmartDriverClub started.”
