Zego insurance has offered to ease the burden for its customers, who are mainly self employed couriers. Here’s the statement from the Zego website yesterday;
As the COVID-19 situation continues to develop, the importance of the delivery and mobility sectors to our society is increasingly significant. Their role is not only to provide a service that is convenient, but one that is now of critical importance.
We first started Zego to solve a problem. At that time, delivery drivers could not access insurance that enabled them to work part-time because of the high upfront cost of an annual policy.
With our pay-as-you-go insurance, drivers are able to pay for insurance that is charged in proportion with their working hours. This both reduces the barriers to entry to delivery work and empowers drivers with the freedom to live and work as they want.
From today, if a Zego customer has a 30-day or annual policy and can’t work due to suspected COVID-19, we will provide them with up to 14 days’ credit against the renewal of their policy. If a customer’s working situation changes due to circumstances beyond their control, we will be by their side.
We are providing this option together with our partner, La Parisienne Assurances, who share our willingness and resolve to help our customers in these difficult times.
We will continue to provide world-class customer service by email and over the phone every day of the week. When a customer needs to contact us, they can expect the same great level of service as always.
Whatever happens, we’re here to help.
