Personal Group CEO Says Insurers Must Step Up & Pay Out Over COVID-19

There has been a huge backlash against the insurance industry with companies refusing to pay out on Covid-19. So it is refreshing to bring you some great news from  a company doing the right thing – every company in our sector should be supporting policyholders and going the extra mile right now. 

Personal Group – a company which has been protecting the unprotected for more than 35 years – is committed to doing the right thing. 

Personal Group works with key workers including NHS staff, bus drivers and social carers, helping an average of 18,000 UK workers per year, last year paying out more than £6.3 million in claims to those that needed it most. Protecting people’s livelihoods.

When many insurers are announcing that policyholders will not be covered during a pandemic situationPersonal Group has gone in the opposite direction. All of its policies will pay out in in relation to Coronavirus (COVID-19) related claims. Insurance plans will cover Coronavirus claims for hospital stays and in the event of death.


Updates to help policyholders and their families


Personal Group has made a number of changes to its policies over the past week: 

  • 24-hour online GP facility: This service is made available free of charge to all policyholders during this time.
  • Emergency employer-paid insurance policies:  Personal Group is offering emergency employer-paid insurance policies (six-month duration) with immediate effect. 
  • Hapi push notifications:  Rapid real-time communication with the wider workforce is key. Companies which are signed up to the Hapi app (a fully customisable employee experience platform) will be able to message ALL employees, or even individuals employees, within the Hapi mobile app. Helping to connect the unconnected.

Unlike other insurance companies, it is keeping its promises to protect the working backbone of Britain even in a global pandemic. 

Personal Group is offering all companies emergency employer paid insurance policies for six months – accessible immediately.
