WILLIS RE

Willis Re, the reinsurance business of a leading global advisory, broking and solutions company Willis Towers Watson (NASDAQ: WLTW), today announces the appointment of James Moss as co-head of Willis Re Specialty’s Casualty practice. In his role, Moss will work in tandem with Chirag Shah to lead Willis Re Specialty’s Casualty strategy in London.

Moss brings 30 years of experience to Willis Re. He joins from Lockton Re, where he was a partner and head of International P&C reinsurance. Before joining Lockton in 2012, Moss was a senior vice president in Guy Carpenter’s London market Casualty team and began his career at R K Carvill & Co. Ltd. He is based in London and will report to Andy Law, managing director and head of Specialty P&C.

INSURED NOMADS

Insured Nomads Corporation (INC) has appointed Markus Zettner as Chief Commercial Officer.  Also a board member and co-founder, Markus will drive commercial development of INC’s expatriate and traveller businesses.  Markus has 30 years’ experience in healthcare benefits, with the last twenty years focused on international healthcare solutions.  He brings expertise in product development, contracting, provider networks, compliance, and customer service focus from decades of working with leading global insurers.

Markus is truly a nomad at heart. He is trilingual and has worked in and traveled to nearly 60 countries. He holds a Master’s degree in Health Services Administration from The George Washington University of Medicine and Health Sciences in Washington, DC (USA). He joins after most recently serving as VP of Global Networks at UnitedHealthcare Global and has led global network and contracting strategies at AIG/MetLife, and CIGNA.

ZURICH

Zurich Insurance Group (Zurich) has created a WellCare business to accelerate the Group’s existing health and wellbeing initiatives in markets around the world and apply a global approach to their development. The new business aims to provide retail, SME and commercial insurance customers with unique health and wellness solutions
tailored specifically to their needs.

Zurich has appointed Helene Westerlind as Chief Executive Officer of Zurich WellCare to develop and execute the global WellCare strategy and deploy the offering across markets in close alignment with Zurich’s country offices. In addition, she will establish a distribution network by leveraging internal channels and collaborating with external parties.

“The WellCare business is a perfect example of how Zurich is bringing to life its customerfocused strategy, shifting toward prevention and providing innovative services beyond traditional insurance protection,” Ms. Westerlind said. “Our goal is to empower customers to improve their health and wellbeing, using technology and data in a responsible manner.”

Ms. Westerlind brings a deep understanding of the insurance industry and Zurich’s global businesses to the role. She joined Zurich in Stockholm in 2003 and most recently was Global Head of International Programs within Zurich’s Commercial Insurance business. Ms. Westerlind’s long-standing relationships with brokers and customers position her well to drive the development and growth of this new business.
THOMAS MILLER

Thomas Miller, the international provider of market leading insurance, professional and investment services and manager of the UK P&I Club, has today announced the appointment of Fumihiko Shimizu as the new President of Thomas Miller KK in Japan.

Fumihiko Shimizu gained extensive experience in the Japanese shipping industry when working with a leading Japanese shipowner, where he held various roles in insurance, claims and commercial management. As the new President, he will concentrate on the operations of TMKK, building on and promoting the correspondency and service management areas of the business, which were established in Japan last year. He will be working closely with Masaki Oiwa, the UK P&I Club Representative of the Japan Branch, and Paul Sessions, the Regional Director for Japan, responsible for the servicing of the Club’s Japanese business globally.

DIRECT INSURANCE 

Direct Insurance Group has today announced the appointment of Andy Graham to Head of Specialist Liability within its Lloyd’s Broker division, Direct Insurance London Market (DILM), one of the very few remaining independent Lloyd’s Brokers serving the UK broker market.  Andy was previously Managing Director of COBRA London Markets.

David Bearman, Chief Executive Officer for Direct Insurance Group comments: We are delighted that Andy has chosen to join us.  There are very few brokers in the market with his immense knowledge and experience of Construction and High Risk Liability lines.  His profile was a natural fit and we are very excited to have him formally on board from November once his sabbatical leave is over.

GALLAGHER

Gallagher announces the appointment of Mark Ettershank who joins as Head of Warranty & Indemnity (W&I) and Tax in Gallagher’s Major Risks Practice.

In his new role, Mark is responsible for spearheading new business, expanding technical expertise and growing the team.

Mark began his career as a corporate lawyer at Squires Paton Boggs where he advised clients on finance, restructuring and insolvency matters. During his time at the firm he undertook senior level secondments to RBS and PNC. He then moved into the insurance sector, and his most recent role was Senior Vice President of the Private Equity and M&A team at Marsh McLennan (MMC).

At MMC, Mark advised on a wide range of deals, from small domestic M&A to complex international transactions in excess of £1bn, advising clients on the placement of W&I and contingent risk insurance.
