Warta Signs Up For Tractable’s AI Car Repair Software

Warta, one of Poland’s largest insurers, is now using AI across its auto operations to visually check how all of its claims across its Polish network are repaired. The AI solutions, created by technology company Tractable, use computer vision to analyse photos of car damage – making sense of it as a human assessor would.

The AI has been fully deployed across Warta’s operations since early 2020, following a successful pilot programme in 2019. The AI enables Warta to visually review all of its auto claims from its repair networks in real-time, ensuring repairs are carried out efficiently, effectively and safely, and has already been used on tens of thousands of real claims across Poland.

Previously, Warta would only be able to nominate a portion of its claims for a visual review – a manual process that consumed considerable time and resources, and had to be completed before repairs could begin.

Now, 100% of Warta’s network claims are visually checked by the AI, allowing cases without anomalies to be immediately approved, to the benefit of repairers. Meanwhile, claims with anomalies are flagged to engineers along with all the information and photos needed to resolve them – helping Warta review each claim up to 3 times faster.

Jakub Polnik, Project Manager at Warta, said: “Previously, it was simply impossible for Warta to visually check every claim across our network. But by using Tractable’s AI, we can make sure every claim is being repaired according to the damage and technology provided by the car producer. As a result, we have a much greater oversight of every aspect of our repair network, ensuring we are providing the best possible service for our customers.”

As well as being one of the oldest and largest insurers in Poland, Warta is owned by Talanx Group, a leading European insurance company based in Germany. The deployment by Warta means that Poland is one of the leading countries in Europe and the world in using AI to visually process and accelerate auto claims, according to Tractable.

Adrien Cohen, Tractable Co-Founder and President, said: “This is cutting-edge tech, and Warta is taking a lead in Europe in deploying it live on real claims in Poland. That means AI is making a concrete difference to real-world problems, improving the process for the insurer, repairer, and the driver.”

Tractable’s AI is trained on photos and human repair decisions across millions of historical accidents, and the technology can be applied globally to any passenger vehicle. The AI enables insurers to assess car damage, shares recommended repair operations, and guides the claims management process to ensure these are processed and settled as quickly as possible. The system continually improves as more insurers and repairers benefit from its use.

Tractable’s AI has processed over $1 billion in auto claims for the world’s top insurers, including Ageas UK, Covéa, the largest auto insurer in the French market, and Tokio Marine and MS&AD, the largest auto insurers in Japan.
