Swinton Insurance announces a partnership with Insurance United Against Dementia (IUAD) that will invite customers buying a car insurance policy online to donate £1 to Alzheimer’s Society. IUAD has so far raised £5.5 million to fund crucial research and support services since the campaign was launched in September 2017.
Today’s announcement is the first time an insurance provider has partnered with Alzheimer’s Society to broaden the fundraising initiative to include consumers. It is also the first time an insurance broker has used the CDL platform to directly collect money for charities from customers during a quote journey. Atlanta, which owns Swinton Insurance, will further support Alzheimer’s Society with a programme of fundraising activities, education and awareness and plans to offer Dementia Friends information sessions to all 2,500 colleagues later this year.
Atlanta CEO Ian Donaldson said: “Three years ago I was honoured to be part of the InsureTrek18 which raised over £100,000 for IUAD. The experience really brought home how much more there is to do to help the 850,000 people living with dementia in the UK and their families. Dementia will affect the majority of our families at some point in our lives and we must do what we can to support those affected by the condition and their carers”.
“IUAD has been a wonderful example of what the insurance industry can achieve when we pull together. I’m really proud to be committing further to the campaign and I’ll be encouraging my fellow personal lines brokers to follow suit and develop charitable donation platforms in the future.”
