Job Moves and Senior Appointments 06.09.21

Here is a round up of the latest appoints and job moves across the insurance sector;

SCHEMESERVE

SchemeServe, a leading cloud-based provider of insurance software, announces a series of new appointments, with a 50% total increase in headcount since May 2021.

SchemeServe has appointed four new Wunderwriters (software technicians), with two of those joining from Open GI; three new quality assurance testers and developers; a marketing assistant, and an additional business development manager. The latest round of appointments are in various customer service, technician, developer, and quality assurance roles, increasing its resource across the company to maintain high service levels and stay ahead of demand from recent growth.

The new Wunderwriters are:

  • Chloe Morgan who joins from Open GI with nearly eight years’ experience as an insurance technician
  • Sheena Bird also joins from Open GI where she was Underwriting Release Team Leader for four years, winning a Leadership award in 2020.  Before that she spent 15 years as a Technical Underwriter for Transactor.  She has 27 years’ experience of the general insurance market.
  • Annelise O’Connor joins from Pro Global where she was a data technician with experience across multiple insurance lines.  Before that she was a technician for CAPITA and has a number of CII qualifications.
  • Laura Hayes joins with eight years’ experience as a personal lines insurance advisor for FBD Insurance in Ireland

Wunderwriters are responsible for building and shaping front end responsive interfaces for the insurance schemes on the SchemeServe cloud-based platform.  The platform enables clients to launch bespoke insurance products in a matter of days and at a fraction of the cost of the big software houses, without sacrificing on flexibility, customisation, or user experience.

GALLAGHER

Gallagher has appointed Elizabeth Jenkin as an independent non-executive director of Arthur J Gallagher Holdings (UK) Limited, subject to regulatory approval.

Elizabeth is the CEO of Nimbla, a chair of the Risk and Capital Committee and non-executive director for Fidelis UK. She is also a non-executive director of the Football Association, plus an advisory board member of APS Intelligence. She was previously managing director for strategy at RFIB and prior to this she worked at Aon for 20 years, latterly as the chief broking officer for EMEA.

Commenting on her new role, Elizabeth said: “I’m delighted to join the board of Gallagher at such an exciting time for the business. I believe my in-depth knowledge of international broking will bring meaningful insight, and I’m looking forward to working alongside my fellow non-executive directors to help Gallagher achieve its goals.”

METROMILE

Arity, Allstate, and Progressive veteran, Gina Minick, has joined Metromile as new VP, Telematics on the Product team at the online insurance specialist.
At Metromile, Gina will help us price risk more accurately which in turn can shorten the claims cycle, extend the customer lifecycle, and deliver a higher customer value. “Telematics is the future of auto insurance,” Gina says. “Having telematics at the forefront of our insurance product at Metromile is so exciting.”
MARKERSTUDY
Following Markerstudy’s acquisition of Brightside earlier this year, Simon Townsend has been announced as Trading Director, SME. Reporting to Managing Director of Markerstudy Broking, Ross Barrington, Simon is close to celebrating 30 years in the insurance broking sector, within Brightside, Marsh/Jelf, Towergate, and HSBC, to name a few.

The chosen brand for Markerstudy’s SME/Commercial division is One Insurance Solution, which has its roots in Brightside. A key growth area is in affinity and partnerships, with the pledge to live through the brand values of their partners. A new focus will be the digital buy-online needs of the sole trader, and the division has partnered with a leading insurtech on a new data interface platform to dramatically improve the customer experience.

Simon Townsend, said: “Markerstudy Broking will be operating in every distribution channel, online and offline, providing a solution for all SME customers, from micro through to large commercial entities; with a rich product portfolio from basic liabilities through to bespoke, complex commercial combined. APOGEE

 Europe’s largest multi-brand Managed Workplace Services provider, Apogee, is working alongside former Royal Marine Barry ‘Baz’ Gray as part of its Sales Development Programme.

A former Royal Marines Commando, Gray served for 26 years, stationed across various countries. His passion for adventure has led him to complete the Challenge Antarctica in 2018, he skied solo and unsupported to the South Pole.

With a wealth of experience in high pressure situations, Baz is hoping to bring a fresh perspective to Apogee. He will be working directly with sales teams across the UK, aiming to increase productivity and staff wellbeing through individual resilience, coaching and team management training.

Carl Day, Director of Sales and Marketing at Apogee said: “I’ve been fortunate enough to work with Baz previously and seen first-hand the influence he can have on teams given the achievements he has accomplished over the year. JACKSON LEE UNDERWRITING

Jackson Lee Underwriting (JLU) is delighted to announce the appointment of Geoff Chapman as a Non-Executive Director.

Geoff has enjoyed a  40 plus year career in insurance, 30 of those in senior positions in Accident & Health (A&H) for some of the world’s leading underwriters including CNA, Arch and Tokio Marine. Geoff was most recently Class Underwriter Accident and Health  for DTW 1991 at Lloyds and before that was Chief Underwriter Personal Accident & Travel Insurance for Tokio Marine Europe Insurance Limited.

He joins JLU at an exciting time as the business develops its Accident and Health product portfolio which includes the BIBA Holiday Travel and Sports Travel schemes and Group Personal Accident offering to insurance brokers.
