CDL Expands Insurtech Apprenticeship Scheme

Stockport based insurtech CDL has created a number of technology and project management apprenticeship opportunities, opening up a new route to enter the workplace with one of the UK’s top employers and an award-winning Top 50-listed insurtech company. Eight work-based apprenticeships are being offered in conjunction with Manchester Metropolitan University, Northumbria University, and leading tech talent and training organisation, QA.

Successful candidates study for one day per week alongside their work-based training and at the end of the four years, gain a degree, either in Digital and Technology Solutions or Project Management. Typically, past apprenticeship candidates have gone on to take up permanent posts at CDL, and progress rapidly to more senior positions within the organisation.

Tom Masters, Intermediate Developer at CDL and formerly a graphic design graduate, joined the company through the apprenticeship route after quitting his job as Head of Legal Support within a law firm. He had previously completed a degree in Software Engineering to undertake an apprenticeship in Software Engineering.

“Joining the apprenticeship programme with CDL has proven to be a life-changing opportunity. I’ve left behind a job that really wasn’t me and am now doing something I love within part of an incredibly engaged and motivating team. While it involved taking a pay cut in the short term, my progress since graduating has very much outpaced the norm so it has definitely been a great move for me.”

Director of HR at CDL, Frank Robinson, said: “Our experience of running apprenticeship programmes is that these offer a fantastic opportunity for people of all ages to transition to the workplace, while enjoying significant support, both from CDL and their degree provider.

“Apprentices typically prove themselves to be great assets to the business over the medium and longer term due to the skills and knowledge they acquire through their training, whether they come to us early on in their career journey or as more mature applicants wishing to retrain in an exciting and fast growth sector.”

Details of how to apply for a Digital and Technology Solutions or a Project Management apprenticeship can be found online at https://www.cdl.co.uk/careers/vacancies.html

The next intake of apprentices will start in September 2022 and the closing date for applications is 10 April.
