AUTO WINDSCREENS

Stephen Mallon, who has worked for Auto Windscreens since 2013, has been appointed as its new Finance Director. Stephen has worked his way through the ranks at the company, as Commercial Accountant, then Financial Controller. He commented: “I am eager to forge stronger relationships with our esteemed partners, suppliers, and customers as we navigate towards a prosperous future together.”

SEDGWICK

Sedgwick, a leading global provider of technology-enabled risk, benefits, and integrated business solutions, announced that industry veteran David Harrison will take the helm as director of its liability claims services in the UK.

Harrison joined Sedgwick in 2002 and during his tenure has continued to grow and support the company’s claims services. He most recently led Sedgwick’s UK liability adjusting team. He has over 30 years of experience working for insurers and loss adjusting firms. Throughout his career, Harrison has specialised in liability claims and has managed and adjusted his own portfolio of complex and high-value claims across a range of industries, including retail, rail, manufacturing and construction.

“David has a wealth of operational and management experience, and his leadership will be a strong asset to our liability claims services,” said Steve Whetter, Sedgwick managing director of third party administration (TPA) in the UK. “Our focus is on providing market-leading services to customers and clients to make the claims process efficient for everyone.”

MOSAIC

Mosaic Insurance has appointed David Drogin to lead growth of its US cyber business, as part of the division’s global buildout to meet demand across the sector. Drogin joins the specialty insurer’s New York office as SVP, Head of US, Cyber, reporting to Global Head of Cyber Yosha DeLong. He will be responsible for leading operational and growth strategy for Mosaic’s US cyber portfolio and represents the firm’s latest hire; Mosaic’s cyber team currently counts a total of 23 underwriters in New York, Chicago, London, Toronto, Germany, Dubai, and Bermuda.

“We’re thrilled to welcome David to Mosaic as we ramp up our US cyber platform and position to become a dynamic leader in this challenging space,” said DeLong. “Our continued expansion is aligned with Mosaic’s dedication to the cyber insurance class, and our commitment to providing risk-transfer solutions to policyholders, backed by a best-in-class team.”

INZMO

INZMO, the Berlin insurtech transforming the rental sector with its financial services products that help tenants and landlords protect their rental property, income and belongings, has officially appointed Michael Jackson as its first Chairman of the Board of Directors.

Michael is the former COO of Skype, and from 2007 until 2018, he was a Partner at venture capital firm Mangrove Capital, early backers of unicorn companies, Skype, Wix, WalkMe, KHealth and TBOL. Michael was also a Non-Executive Director at AXA and Volvo Cars and is a Director at London and Luxembourg-based VC firm Fabric Ventures.

Michael’s appointment follows a significant period of traction for INZMO which experienced 300% year-on-year growth in 2022 across its consumer electronics segment. To date it has served almost 100,000 customers and has 25 full time employees.

SOMPO

Sompo International, a leading global provider of commercial and consumer property and casualty (re)insurance, has announced the appointment of Vicky Sarjeant as Head of Energy Insurance, Asia Pacific. She will be based in Singapore, and report to Paul O’Neill, President of Commercial Lines, Insurance, Asia Pacific (APAC).

Mr. O’Neill said, “With 17 years of knowledge and experience in both the London and Singapore markets, Vicky will be a valuable addition to our growing team in the APAC region. I look forward to working with her as we continue establishing our practice and growing our book of business.”

Vicky joins Sompo International from Canopius Asia, where she was an Energy Underwriter covering the APAC and MENA regions. She previously held positions with Marsh Singapore and Miller Insurance in London.

QLAIMS

Insurtech MGA, Qlaims, today announces that well known broking figure and spokesperson, Stuart Reid, joins as a non-executive director.

Stuart has spent over 35 years in the industry as CEO at Stuart Alexander, CEO & Executive Chair at Bluefin and CEO of UK Retail at A J Gallagher. He has also had many industry roles as Deputy Chair of the British Insurance Brokers Association (BIBA) and Chair of BIBA’s Large Broker Committee. He was also Vice President of the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) and Chair of the CII Broking Faculty. Roles that have given him both an interest and a view on the industry more widely. He currently holds roles as Chair at P& and Pikl, and as a Non-Executive Director at Harbour Underwriting. He also writes a monthly opinion piece for Insurance Times.

Qlaims provides loss recovery insurance to businesses and consumers via brokers. Through its subsidiary Qlaimstech, it offers complementary, supporting services aimed at streamlining and improving customer experience when making a claim.

DWF

DWF, the global provider of integrated legal and business services, has further expanded its team in Dubai.

Dispute resolution partners Paul Suckling and Oliver Dupenois who specialise in construction disputes. Specialising in construction with a focus on high value and complex arbitration disputes, Paul and Oliver both join DWF’s Dispute Resolution practice. Paul has been active in the construction industry for over 30 years, with a focus in the last 20 years in the Gulf region working at several high-profile law firms and having held an in-house position and is dual-qualified as a quantity surveyor and solicitor.

Oliver has practised as a construction disputes lawyer for the last 11 years in Dubai. Whilst having experience running high value disputes across many arbitration forums (including DIAC, ADCCAC, ICC and on an ad-hoc basis), Oliver is also highly skilled in front-end construction matters, with his capability extending to dealing with bespoke drafting and contract negotiations.

Adam Pryor also joins DWF’s Global Risks Team from Clyde & Co., having worked at the firm since 2015. DWF currently boasts 3 offices in the Middle East: the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia, and Adam will be based in DWF’s Dubai office. Having trained and practised in London before transferring to the Middle East in 2017, Adam brings to the business significant knowledge of both the London Insurance Market and Middle Eastern laws and business practices.

Specialising in financial lines, construction insurance and professional liability, Adam has been involved in high value litigation in the DIFC and ADGM Courts, and international arbitration. He is a regular speaker at global insurance industry events.

The latest appointments closely follow those of insurance partners Victoria Clucas and Bill Evans, who joined DWF’s Dubai office from Kennedys earlier this year, creating a market leading team of 4 insurance partners in Dubai, which also includes Brian Boahene.

 

GALLAGHER

Gallagher has appointed Sam Cheshire as Head of Cyber for its UK & Ireland Retail division. In his new role he is responsible for supporting Gallagher’s regional office network and clients with specialist technical cyber knowledge.

Sam joins after spending over six years at Clear Insurance Management where he held a number of roles, most recently specialising in cyber insurance. During his time at Clear Insurance, Sam worked closely with commercial business clients to help identify their unique cyber risks. He also used his specialist knowledge of the cyber market to support account executives with understanding complex cyber policy wordings so they could source the most appropriate insurance to meet the needs of clients.

With cyber attacks remaining a major problem for UK businesses, clients are looking to their insurance advisors to help them mitigate the risk and damage in the event of being targeted, and which insurance they need should they become a victim of a successful attack.

CHARLES TAYLOR

Charles Taylor, the leading provider of services and technology solutions to the global insurance market, has announced the appointment of Steven Beard as Group President, effective 01 September. Steven joins Charles Taylor from Ardonagh Specialty where he most recently served as CFO. He has held several prior roles as CEO, CFO and COO in Professional Services and Insurance companies.  In his new role and as a member of its Executive Committee, Charles Taylor will benefit from Steven’s experience leading entrepreneurial organisations, in continuation of the firm’s growth strategy.
