HF Working With Salford Uni on AI Claims Tool

When you think about it, FNOL as a process is generally stuck in the 1990s. People still phone a call centre to report, often in a state of shock, so vital details can be missed. Even with smartphone footage from an incident user photos or video are often low quality, not relevant, or no use as regards triaging repair vs salvage. Then there’s the delay in passing data to recovery, storage and repair facilities, often carried out by third party claims handler companies. Data can be inputted incorrectly, jobs can be delayed by traffic problems, staff sickness – all kinds of reasons which the insurance brand, or policyholder, is not aware of. Frustration builds, complaints roll in.

There has to be a better – more automated – way to carry out FNOL tasks for insurance brands. Research is going on however, which is great to see.

Here’s the latest collab project news from High Five;

HighFive, the technology subsidiary of HF, has embarked on its second major artificial intelligence project in collaboration with the University of Salford. Building on the success of ELI (Expert Legal Intelligence), an AI-driven claims handling solution, HighFive is now developing the Spyglass Profiler—a cutting-edge AI-powered intelligence tool designed to enhance the speed, accuracy, and integrity of insurance claims processing. The project, which commenced in Q4 2024, is scheduled to run through to January 2025.

The Spyglass Profiler will utilise advanced AI and data analytics to produce detailed claimant profiles based on vast datasets, supporting legal and insurance professionals in making swift and informed decisions. The solution promises to set a new benchmark in fraud prevention and operational efficiency for the industry.

David Scott, Managing Director of HighFive, expressed his excitement about the project: “HighFive’s mission is to drive transformative technology in sectors where precision and speed matter most. The Spyglass Profiler represents our dedication to innovation and partnership with academic excellence at the University of Salford.”

Rick Preston, Head of Intelligence Services at HF, underscored the impact this tool will have on the industry: “This project builds on our journey with AI solutions like ELI. The Spyglass Profiler will empower our team to work smarter and faster, automating key processes while ensuring thorough, data-rich intelligence.”

Professor Sunil Vadera, from the University of Salford, noted the importance of the collaboration: “The University of Salford is thrilled to partner with HighFive once again. Spyglass Profiler will push the boundaries of AI in insurance, demonstrating how academic-industry collaborations can create real-world solutions for complex challenges.”

Together, HighFive and the University of Salford are poised to redefine claims intelligence, making processes more efficient and secure. The Spyglass Profiler project is another step toward a tech-driven future for the insurance industry.

The University of Salford has a dynamic and collaborative community of researchers dedicated to pushing the boundaries of data science and AI. The diverse team brings together cutting-edge knowledge and experience to address the challenges of the digital age, supporting businesses to unlock the immense potential of AI, machine learning and deep learning.
