Which is the all-time greatest classic car? Well, classic car insurer Footman James has announced the results of its Classic Car Hall of Fame vote. From a list of 50 of the most cherished classic cars of all time, over 1300 votes were cast by classic car enthusiasts across the UK, to find out the top ten classic cars of all time. Here’s the word;

The final list, determined by passionate voters, celebrates timeless engineering and design. The top 10 cars include:

Just missing out on the top 10 were other iconic models such as the Lamborghini Miura, which was beaten TO number 10 by the Morris Minor, by one vote! The Ford Escort MKI also just missed out. Other legendary vehicles like the DeLorean DMC-12 and Ferrari F40 appeared in the top 50.
A Celebration of Iconic Design and Engineering
Topping the list, the Jaguar E-Type remains a symbol of British design and innovation. Described by Enzo Ferrari as “the most beautiful car in the world,” the E-Type captivated voters. Actor and classic car enthusiast Gary Mavers praised its allure, saying,
“Probably one of the most beautiful cars ever produced, design-wise and speed-wise. It was rated as the first 150-mile-per-hour car.”
One voter described the E-Type as “timeless, classic, and ahead of its time.”
Highlights from the Top 10
· Mini Cooper: A global icon, celebrated for its versatility across fashion, motorsport, and pop culture. “They fit every genre—youth, family, or motor sport,” remarked one voter.
· Aston Martin DB5: Immortalized by its James Bond connection, the DB5 holds third place. Mavers noted, “It’s just stunning—a great representation of British motoring back in the day.”
· Land Rover Series I: The quintessential rugged and versatile vehicle. Voters described it as “ageless and classless.”
· Citroën DS: Praised for its revolutionary design, comfort, and quiet elegance, it continues to inspire luxury automakers today.
· Volkswagen Beetle: Spanning 65 years of production, this cultural icon became synonymous with peace, festivals, and reliability.
Gary Mavers on the List
Gary Mavers, a long-time classic car fan, summed up the results: “It’s a really nice list, and I’m glad it has been voted the way it has. All of these cars have got a great background and are beautiful looking, beautifully shaped, and engineered.”
