The London & International Insurance Brokers’ Association (LIIBA) is hosting a webinar, Insuring Net Zero: Leveraging Insurance for a Sustainable Future, in partnership with B4NZ (Banking for Net Zero), an organisation that unites financial services, businesses, policymakers, and regulators to facilitate the UK economy’s transition to net zero.
With an estimated $19 trillion required in transition finance by 2030, insurance plays a critical – but often overlooked – role in de-risking investments, reducing capital costs, and accelerating the deployment of clean technologies and sustainable infrastructure.
The webinar, set to take place on April 22nd at 13.00, will bring together leaders from the insurance, banking, and government sectors to discuss:
How insurance can unlock transition finance and scale sustainable solutions
Regulatory challenges insurers face in supporting long-term climate projects
The role of insurance in de-risking nature-based solutions and carbon markets
Opportunities for collaboration between insurers, businesses, and policymakers
Featured speakers include Rowan Douglas CBE, CEO of Climate Risk and Resilience at Howden; James Close, Head of Climate Change at NatWest Group; Claudine Blamey, Chief Sustainability Officer at Aviva and Craig Pettengell, Insurance Co-Lead at the UN High Level Climate Champions alongside representatives from the UK Government and key industry stakeholders.
Christopher Croft, CEO of LIIBA, emphasised the importance of the discussion:
“The insurance industry has a fundamental role to play in enabling the transition to net zero. By providing risk mitigation and financial security, we can unlock the necessary investments to build a more sustainable future. This webinar is an essential opportunity to bring together expertise from across sectors to explore how we can accelerate progress.”
Heather Buchanan, CEO of B4NZ, noted: “Too often, insurance is left out of the climate finance conversation – but it’s a critical enabler of the net zero transition. We’re excited to join LIIBA in this important conversation to identify practical solutions that drive real impact. This webinar marks the start of a vital discussion between insurers, financiers, and policymakers on how to unlock insurance’s full potential. We’re proud to bring together such a strong panel to launch B4NZ’s work in this space.”
