New research from Scrap Car Comparison has revealed the UK’s most in-demand salvaged car brands and models, based on Google search data from the year 2024. Scrap Car Comparison analysed UK search volumes for more than 250 car makes and models, focusing on terms related to salvaged or damaged cars.

The results showed that BMW was the most searched-for brand, with 2,760 annual searches for salvage-related queries. With new BMW models ranging from £31,000 for a 1 Series to upwards of £164,000 for high-performance options like the BMW i7 M70 xDrive, there’s clear financial incentive for buyers seeking quality vehicles at reduced prices through salvage channels.
Audi, Ferrari, and Porsche followed closely behind, each tied in second place with 2,280 searches annually. Other premium brands such as Mercedes, Aston Martin and Land Rover also made the top ten, suggesting a growing trend in salvaged luxury vehicle demand.

When it comes to specific models, the Jaguar XF was the most in-demand salvaged car model in 2024, with 1,920 annual searches. This coincides with Jaguar’s move toward a fully electric line-up, which led to the discontinuation of several models including the XF, XE, F-Type, I-Pace, and E-Pace potentially driving salvage interest among enthusiasts and collectors.
The Porsche 718 followed in second with 1,680 annual searches, (likely spurred by the retirement of its Boxster and Cayman combustion engine variants in Europe). While the Mini Cooper S, Ford Ranger, and Audi A3 all tied in third position with 1,320 yearly searches each.

“More and more drivers are waking up to the fact that salvage cars can offer exceptional value. For some, it’s a chance to own a high-end or luxury vehicle that would be completely out of reach brand new. For others, it’s about finding a discontinued model they’ve always loved and don’t want to give up on just yet.
