Alps, a leading MGA specialising in insurance add-on policies, legal expenses, and claims solutions for intermediaries, has announced the launch of a new Commercial HGV Motor Breakdown policy designed to provide nationwide rapid roadside and base assistance to HGV vehicles above 7.5 tonnes.

The new policy, the latest in Alps’s growing and diverse portfolio of highly responsive and outcomes-optimised add-on solutions, provides roadside assistance and recovery for HGV drivers and their vehicles in the event of an unexpected breakdown anywhere in the UK.

Delivered in partnership with Call Assist Ltd, a Which? Trusted Trader for Roadside Recovery, and underwritten by Collinson Insurance, the policy offers two levels of cover: Local Cover and Base Assist and UK Nationwide and Base Assist.  With policies starting from as little as £305, policyholders have 24/7/365 access to a dedicated recovery operator and broad coverage, including:

  • 180 minutes of roadside and base assistance
  • Recovery for the vehicle, passengers, and any attached caravans/trailers within a 20-mile radius
  • Alternative public transport or hire car expenses up to £250
  • Misfuel assistance up to £250
  • Key cover
  • Alternative accommodation and reasonable associated expenses up a total of £500 per claim

Michelle O’Reilly, Managing Director at Alps, commented: “We continue to support brokers with innovative add-on solutions and the delivery of first-class claims services. With this new HGV breakdown policy, we’re providing faster response times, less downtime, better outcomes, and most importantly, fulfilling a market need to keep fleets, businesses, and their people moving. This brings our range of motor add-on solutions to 12, and the total portfolio of commercial, property, and motor insurance policies to 23, solidifying our position as a leader in the market in terms of innovation and reliable protection.”
